Applications for the Film Scriptwriting Advanced Programme open next Monday (25 April)

The “Scripts in Focus – Film Scriptwriting Advanced Programme” (hereafter referred to as the Programme), jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the Film Administration of Guangdong Province, and Create Hong Kong, will be held again this year. The Programme aims to promote film production through the cultivation of filmmaking talent, thereby spawning more creative films for the industry. Applications for the Programme will be open from 25 April to 24 June. All local filmmakers are welcome to participate. Shortlisted projects will receive guidance from professional directors and scriptwriters. Two representative projects each will be selected from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Among these six projects, two will be selected and each will be awarded a prize of MOP80,000.


Consumer price index (CPI) for March 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for March 2022 (103.39) rose by 1.07% year-on-year. The increment was attributed to higher wages of domestic helpers, dearer charges for eating out and electricity, as well as increasing gasoline prices and airfares; however, the rise was partially offset by reduced rentals for dwellings, falling charges for telecommunication services and lower prices of pork. Among the various sections of goods and services, the price indices of Household Furnishings & Services and Transport grew by 9.67% and 7.37% year-on-year respectively, whereas the index of Communication fell by 10.32%. The CPI-A (103.17) and CPI-B (103.67) saw respective growth of 0.77% and 1.48% year-on-year.


Visitor arrivals for March 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals fell by 30.2% year-on-year and 19.6% month-on-month to 526,912 in March 2022, owing to the resurgence of pandemic in the neighbouring regions. Same-day visitors (369,661) grew by 5.7% year-on-year, whereas overnight visitors (157,251) declined by 61.2%. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.4 day year-on-year to 1.2 days on account of a decrease in the number of overnight visitors; the duration for same-day visitors stayed at 0.1 day while that for overnight visitors went up by 0.7 day to 3.6 days.


Prevention of Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia —— Anti-epidemic Measures and Arrangements for Summer Activities and Interest Classes at the Centres under the DSEDJ

In response to the needs of epidemic prevention and control, and taking into account the changes in the epidemic situation in neighboring regions, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (the DSEDJ), on the premise of safeguarding the health of teachers and students, has communicated with some school leaders and groups in Macau. It is announced that starting from July 2022, participants in summer activities jointly held by the DSEDJ and Sports Bureau, interest classes at the centres under the DSEDJ, as well as the accompanying persons stipulated in the activity regulations must show a proof of having completed their initial COVID-19 vaccination series for 14 days (Macau Health Code with a "Golden Frame") in the first lesson or session of the activity, or present a negative nucleic acid test result within 7 days in each lesson or session (at their own expense).


Tap Siac Craft Market in spring inaugurated revealing the charm of cultural and creative brands

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the Tap Siac Craft Market is held from today to 24 April and from 28 April to 1 May at Tap Siac Square, featuring over 100 original products of cultural and creative brands and a wide range of activities. Residents and tourists are welcome to participate.
