Demographic statistics for the 1st quarter of 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the total population as at end-March 2022 decreased by 1,500 quarter-to-quarter to 681,700, mainly attributable to a drop in the number of non-resident workers living in Macao. Women outnumbered men, with the female population (361,300) accounting for 53.0% of the total population.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau, there will be prolonged and intense rainfall or even rainstorm in Macao and its neighbouring areas tomorrow (May 11). Such weather conditions may have a major impact on the safety of students during their way to school. After consulting with the SMG, the DSEDJ announced that classes at all levels of non-tertiary education will be suspended all day tomorrow, and institutions of higher education shall follow the relevant regulations on implementation.

32nd Macao Arts Festival offers an additional performance of the concert Liza Wang and The Macao Chinese Orchestra
Tickets for the closing concert of the 32nd Macao Arts Festival Liza Wang and The Macao Chinese Orchestra, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), were sold out since the first day of ticket sales. Considering the enthusiastic support from music aficionados in Macao and the Greater Bay Area, an additional performance will be offered at 8pm on 1 June. Tickets for the additional performance will be on sale simultaneously through the Macau Ticketing Network outlets, telephone and online booking from 10am on 14 May.

UM students’ graduation work explores health issues in post-pandemic era
The Department of Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Macau (UM), recently launched Eudemonia - UM Bridges 2022. As the graduation work of fourth-year students in the department, the publication includes interviews with more than ten experts in the field of psychology, nutrition, education, and sports. The work pieces together different stories and combines information of relevant laws, policies, and data to explore health issues and the lives of Macao residents in the post-pandemic era.
