Security Secretary: Macao sees effective anti-smuggling effort

The Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, today said the Macao Customs Service and the Public Security Police Force had stepped up their enforcement effort, in view of an increase in smuggling activities amid the COVID-19 pandemic.


Judiciary Police warns the public as parcel scam continues

Members of the public informed the Judiciary Police regarding SMSs from fake courier companies. They were told to log in to the website provided in the SMS, key in their personal information and pay an additional fee as their parcel deliveries were unsuccessful due to disruptions caused by the epidemic.


Results of retail sales survey for 4th quarter of 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that value of retail sales for the fourth quarter of 2021 totalled MOP18.50 billion, up by 1.7% year-on-year. After removing the effect of price changes, the sales volume index grew by 4.6% year-on-year.

“Infinite Love Marathon Concerts” concludes successfully presenting a new comprehensive cultural experience

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and co-organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the “Infinite Love Marathon Concerts” concluded on 20 February. The event brought together nearly 300 local performers as well as singers from Mainland China and Hong Kong, showcasing Macao’s performing power through a marathon of comprehensive musical performances. In addition to a series of brilliant performances, nearly 20 food stalls, game and workshop booths, as well as a number of art installations were set up at the site of the event, integrating culture, gastronomy and creativity. The concerts attracted a total of nearly 20,000 participants, while the online platform promotion and live broadcasts reached nearly 300,000 views.


Chrissie Chau’s leading actress in Macao film Madalena nominated for Best Actress in the Hong Kong Film Awards

The nomination list of the “40th Hong Kong Film Awards” was released recently. Actress Chrissie Chau was nominated for Best Actress while leading actress in the Macao film Madalena, one of the projects selected in the “Support Programme for the Production of Feature Films” of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government. The film Madalena was directed and written by local director Emily Chan Nga Lei, and it was entirely filmed in Macao.


From 25 February people arriving via Hong Kong required to quarantine at Treasure Hotel

Starting from 25 February 2022, all those intending to enter Macao via Hong Kong will be required to use the Treasure Hotel for their compulsory medical quarantine.



IELTS test at MPI-Bell Centre of English now opens for registration

IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is the world's leading international test of English language proficiency, recognized by over 11,000 institutions in more than 140 countries and taken by more than three million people each year (www.ielts.org). It is the international English language standard required for education, immigration and employment in countries and regions where English is the language of communication. The new computer-delivered IELTS test format is consistent with the paper-based test in terms of question types, level of difficulty and scoring criteria, but allows for faster results for candidates.
