CE pledges development support to Macanese community

The Government would continue offering comprehensive, multidisciplinary development support to the Macanese community, said today the Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, during a gathering hosted by the Government with representatives of the local Macanese community, to mark Chinese New Year.


UM appoints Prof Mok Kai Meng as vice rector

The University of Macau (UM) has appointed Prof Mok Kai Meng as its vice rector (student affairs), after a global recruitment process and a rigorous selection process. An expert in civil engineering, Prof Mok has held various positions at UM, including dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), founding dean of Honours College (HC), and master of Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College (HFPJC), with rich experience in teaching, research, and administration.


International banking statistics – December 2021

According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the proportion of international business in the local banking sector rose in the fourth quarter of 2021. At end-December 2021, the share of international assets in total banking assets increased to 86.3% from 85.9% at end-September 2021, while the share of international liabilities in total banking liabilities rose to 83.9% from 83.8%.



From 21 February vaccination required for those arriving from Hong Kong or Taiwan

Starting from 21 February 2022, individuals aged 12 or above inbound to Macao via either Hong Kong or Taiwan will be required to present a certificate proving they have completed an initial series of COVID-19 vaccination at least 14 days prior to arrival. The last dose in the series must have been administered within the preceding seven months.

Tap Siac Craft Market calls for stall operators and creative handicraft workshops

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the Tap Siac Craft Market will be held at Tap Siac Square from 21 to 24 April and from 28 April to 1 May. The calls for stall operators and creative handicraft workshops are open on 16 February to 11:59pm on 4 March. All interested parties are welcome to apply, and applications are free of charge.


Two UM scholars elected fellows of prestigious international societies

Two University of Macau (UM) professors have been elected fellows of prestigious international societies. Prof Xu Qingsong in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) has been elected a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Prof Zhou Yicong in the Department of Computer and Information Science of FST has been elected a fellow of the Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE). Both are the first scholars from Macao to receive their respective titles.
