MPU-Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies holds Gaming Management and Leadership Lectures
The Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies of the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) recently arranged two gaming leadership and management lectures. The speakers were: Graeme Croft, Vice President of Table Games of MGM Cotai; Catherine Iu, Assistant Vice President of Community Relations, Public Relations, Galaxy Entertainment Group. These industry lecture series were well attended and received among students and alumni in the Master of Business Administration in Gaming Management programme.

New anti-epidemic measures for Cultural Affairs Bureau’s workshops, recreational classes and training activities from 1 July
In response to the needs of epidemic prevention and control, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will implement new anti-epidemic measures for the workshops, recreational classes and training activities from 1 July. All participants and accompanying persons as stipulated in the activity regulations must present a proof of completion of the whole course of the COVID-19 primary vaccination series for 14 days (as shown in the Macao Health Code with the “golden frame”) in the first lesson or session of the activity, or a negative nucleic acid test result issued within 7 days in each lesson or session (self-pay). Meanwhile, regarding the special circumstances of some activities, IC will adjust the measures according to the development of the pandemic and the target of the activities.

MGTO held the Seminar on International Protocol Skills
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) organized the Seminar on International Protocol Skills today (26 May) for members of the hotel and tourism-related sectors to learn more about application of protocol skills in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and international community. The seminar supported hotel and tourism-related personnel to attain professional enhancement and upgrade of service quality, as they tend to visitors from more diverse market segments. It also represents an endeavor in parallel with the progress of the “Culture and Tourism Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and in preparation for the return of the international tourism market in the post-pandemic future.

Macao International Museum Day Carnival to be held at Iao Hon Market Park on Sunday
In order to celebrate International Museum Day on 18 May, 20 museums in Macao co-organize the annual event of the museum sector, the “Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2022”. The opening ceremony will be held at 2pm on 29 May (Sunday) at the Iao Hon Market Park. The event will feature a wide range of intriguing activities, including game booths, workshops, guided tours and a WeChat game with lucky draws. Further relaxation of entry requirements for local resident spouse and minor children | On-arrival centralized medical observation is still necessary
Taking into account the actual needs of local residents and assessing the epidemic risks and changes in relevant countries, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre (hereinafter referred to as the “Centre”) announces, in accordance with the stipulations in clause 3 of Chief Executive Dispatch No. 64/2022, that with effect from 30 May 2022, non-resident spouse and minor children of Macao residents who are unqualified to enter Macao under other entry restrictions exemption schemes may, subject to prior authorization from the health authorities and the prerequisite of fulfilling other entry conditions, enter into the Macao Special Administrative Region.

MICE statistics for the 1st quarter of 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 97 MICE events were held in Macao in the first quarter of 2022, an increase of 29 year-on-year; the number of participants & attendees rose by 19.7% to 165,000.

Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for April 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 121 hotel establishments offered accommodation services to the public in April 2022, an increase of 4 year-on-year; number of available guest rooms rose by 4.9% to 39,000. Data on hotel establishments designated for medical observation and self-health monitoring were excluded in the compilation of the results. The average occupancy rate of guest rooms in April dropped by 29.5 percentage points year-on-year to 29.5%, with the rates of 3-star hotels and 5-star hotels falling by 34.3 percentage points and 31.8 percentage points respectively.
