CMS holds seminar to discuss SAR government’s policy address for 2022

The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Macau Studies (CMS) today (17 November) held a seminar titled ‘Policy Address for the Fiscal Year 2022 of Macau SAR’. During the event, experts and scholars discussed the policy address and provided suggestions for the government. Participants agree that the government has a balanced vision during the pandemic. Key issues discussed at the seminar include anti-pandemic measures, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone (Cooperation Zone) in Hengqin, and the development of the gaming industry.


Private sector construction and real estate transactions for the 3rd quarter of 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 2,122 building units and parking spaces were purchased and sold in the third quarter of 2021 as per Stamp Duty record, and the total value of transactions was MOP13.34 billion, down by 22.3% and 16.6% respectively quarter-to-quarter.


UM scholar’s article on environmental economics published in top international journal

A research article co-authored by Aileen Lam, an assistant professor in the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Macau (UM), has been published in Nature Energy, a leading international journal with an impact factor of 60.858, which mainly publishes the best research studies on energy. The articles published in this journal deal not only with the generation and distribution of energy, but also with the impacts of energy technologies and policies on different societies.
