UM makes breakthrough in precision medicine treatment for breast cancer

A research team in the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), led by Chair Professor Chuxia Deng, recently made a breakthrough in the field of cancer precision medicine through its collaboration with Conde S Januário Hospital, the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, and Zhuhai People’s Hospital. The research team used patient-derived organoids (PDOs), in vitro drug screening, and other techniques to provide individualised treatment suggestions for breast cancer patients, especially those with advanced breast cancer. The study has been published in Advanced Science.


GMBPF Gathers High-Quality Products from Guangdong and Macao to Help Enterprises Promote Their Brands

The “2021 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair” (2021GMBPF), jointly organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, will be held at The Venetian Macao from 26 to 28 November. This year’s GMBPF will enhance its business matching activities, which will be held both online and offline. Some enterprises have decided to participate in the Fair again this year, having increased their turnover by 40% after their participation in last year’s Fair and finding it effective in promoting and publicising their brands. Some enterprises gained inspiration and experience from the previous Fair’s live-streaming session, thus expanding live-streaming sales.


Three Exhibitions Assist Traders in Seizing More Opportunities

The 26th Macao International Trade and Investment (26th MIF), the Macao Franchise Expo 2021 (2021MFE) and the 2021 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (2021PLPEX) will be held concurrently at The Venetian Macao from 10 to 12 December. Exhibitors who participated in last year’s exhibitions understand the effectiveness of the three exhibitions, where they can not only explore business opportunities and expand business collaboration through the online platform but also increase offline sales for their business through the offline exhibition platform.


ARTwarming Winter at CCM Christmas fun for all

The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is launching ARTwarming Winter’s newest edition. Once more, the programme will bring entertaining gifts for the whole family, from the good mood staged by Little Devil, a theatrical play for two-year old kids and above, to a colourful array of performances and activities for all ages displayed at Arty Christmas, including an inspiring concert by CCM’s singing Club.


UM scholars publish book on BRI and China’s Major Country Diplomacy

The Belt and Road Initiative in South–South Cooperation: The Impact on World Trade and Geopolitics, a book co-authored by Prof Edmund Sheng Li and Dr Dmitri Felix do Nascimento in the Faculty of Social Science (FSS), University of Macau (UM), has been published by the major international publisher Palgrave MacMillan. The book is not only one of the first academic works to explore China’s ‘Major Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics’; it is also the first English book on this topic ever produced in the Greater China region. It is a comprehensive study with significant academic and policy value.



IPIM Visits Guangdong-Macao Intensive Co-operation Zone in Hengqin to Strengthen Connection Mechanism

A delegation from the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) visited the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Co-operation Zone in Hengqin today (9 November), during which they discussed and exchanged opinions on future collaborations and relevant arrangements with representatives from the Economic Development Bureau and the Commercial Services Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Co-operation Zone in Hengqin.
