IPIM Promotes Macao Products and Business Advantages during “Macao Week in Sichuan·Chengdu”

The “Macao Week in Sichuan·Chengdu” mega roadshow will be staged at Jiaozi Plaza from 23 (tomorrow) to 27 September. The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has organised 35 Macao enterprises to participate in the event and will hold presentation seminars and business matching sessions in the hope of helping enterprises explore business opportunities by integrating the tourism, MICE, business and trade resources of both regions and giving full play to Macao’s role as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. IPIM also strives to promote Macao as a safe and healthy destination for travelling and conducting business, attracting more mainland visitors to Macao to stimulate the local economy.

The mega roadshow “Macao Week in Sichuan•Chengdu” will be held at Jiaozi Plaza, Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in Chengdu from 23 – 27 September, with a grand opening ceremony this Friday (24 September). A variety of promotions are successively unfolding in Chengdu to create lively ambience for the event and promote Macao as a safe and quality destination, drawing Mainland visitors to Macao for travel and spending during the upcoming National Day Golden Week to spur tourism and economic revival.


Macao Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau incorporates electronic library card in the e-Card service of the “Common Access to Public Services of the Macao SAR”

In response to the SAR Government’s electronic service initiative and to provide more convenient measures for the public, the Macao Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) incorporated the electronic library card in the e-Card service of the mobile application “Common Access to Public Services of the Macao SAR”, so as to facilitate the public’s access to library resources and services and to promotereading culture.


Macao Orchestra presents the 2021-22 Season Opening Concert online

The “2021-22 Season Opening Concert” by the Macao Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be held online on 22 September, at 8pm. Under the baton of the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Macao Orchestra, Lu Jia, the Orchestra joins hands with internationally renowned violinist Ning Feng, to present two classical works by Mozart. The concert will be available online on various platforms.


CE to visit Sichuan, Shaanxi Province from 23 to 28 September

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, will lead a Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government delegation, from 23 to 28 September, to visit Chengdu city of Sichuan Province, and Xi’an city in Shaanxi Province.

Consumer price index (CPI) for August 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for August 2021 (102.61) rose by 0.40% year-on-year, slightly larger than the increase in July (+0.38%).


Macao Polytechnic Institute has launched a new version of “Chinese-Portuguese News Learning App”

In order to further leverage the role of the Sino-Portuguese platform and promote the exchange of information and bilingual learning between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, Macao Polytechnic Institute officially launched the “China-Portuguese News Learning App” version 2.0 this month. The new version integrates information categories on the basis of the original version, with column classification, adding seven major sections: Greater Bay Area, Employment, Technology, Entertainment, Sports, Life, and Culture to continue to provide users with the latest and hottest news and information and high-quality Chinese-Portuguese bilingual learning resources.


2021 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon to be held on 5 December

The 2021 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, will be held on 5 December 2021. In celebration of the 40th anniversary, a number of activities will be held to engage residents, tourists and runners in the 2021 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon in various ways and immerse everyone in the joyful and lively atmosphere of the event.


Visitor arrivals for August 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals decreased by 48.2% month-on-month to 409,207 in August 2021, on account of the temporarily tightened entry and exit requirements as local confirmed cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia were reported in early August; however, the figure represented an uplift of 80.2% year-on-year. Numbers of same-day visitors (257,966) and overnight visitors (151,241) surged by 64.9% and 114.1% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.7 day year-on-year to 1.6 days, with that of overnight visitors (3.9 days) extending by 0.6 day whereas that of same-day visitors (0.1 day) remaining unchanged.
