MGTO organizes “Safe & Quality Destination.Glamourous Macao” Travel Roadshow in Shenzhen Spotlighting final mega events of 2021 to draw visitors from Greater Bay Area
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) presents the “Safe & Quality Destination.Glamourous Macao” Travel Roadshow on 6 and 7 November to promote upcoming community activities and final mega events of the year, including the 68th Macau Grand Prix, Macao Light Festival 2021, and Light up Macao Drone Gala. The Roadshow features themed showcase zones, stage performances and many interactive games to immerse Shenzhen residents in Macao’s great festive ambience and glamour as a safe and quality destination, to draw more Mainland visitors to Macao for tourism and economic revival.

“Spirit & Nature – Graphic Design Exhibition of Koichi Sato” showcases masterpieces of the Japanese design master
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and co-organised by the Macau Designers Association, the “Spirit & Nature – Graphic Design Exhibition of Koichi Sato” features nearly 76 posters and other related graphic design works by Koichi Sato, most of which are representative works of his design career. The exhibition is held from November to December at the Old Court Building. Admission is free.

Consumer rights protection work of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau covered in Consumer Report no. 338
The latest issue of Consumer Report covers the “Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau Video-Conference Exchange Meeting on Consumer Rights Protection Work 2021” and summarizes the work of the three Consumer Councils and case referral numbers among the places. Consumer Councils in the three regions aim to work towards the goal of serving the development of the Greater Bay Area and hope to cooperate in innovative ways to further enhance the effects of their cooperation.

MGTO’s adjustment of subsidy mechanism 3 specialized subsidy programs will open for application at 2nd stage from 15 Nov
Aligned with the Macao Special Administrative Region Government’s policy towards refinement of subsidy schemes, the Tourism Fund remodeled its current subsidy mechanism to meet the following newest principles of financial support granted by the Macao SAR’s autonomous funds, to unfold four specialized subsidy programs of 2022 at two stages. Following the former launch of the specialized subsidy program for “Development of community tourism and economy” for the first stage, three other specialized subsidy programs for “Gastronomic culture promotion”, “Maritime tourism” and “Tourism Industry Training” are now opened for the second stage to welcome applications from 15 November until 10 December 2021. Subsidized activities/projects are required to unfold between 1 March 2022 and 28 February 2023.

Prize presentation ceremony held for two census lucky draws
To encourage response and as an appreciation for the participation of households in the 2021 Population Census, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) held “Early Census Response for Greater Chance of Winning Lucky Draw” and “Cooperating Households Lucky Draw” in August and September respectively. The prize presentation ceremony took place today (5 Nov), where DSEC Director Ieong Meng Chao, Deputy Director Cheng I Wan and Deputy Director Mak Hang Chan presented the prizes to the winning households.

Results of wholesale and retail survey 2020
Information from the Statistics and Census Service indicated that there were 15,996 wholesale & retail establishments, market stalls and fixed street stalls operating in 2020, an increase of 256 year-on-year; however, total number of persons engaged decreased by 436 to 71,575, with employees accounting for 80.7% of the total. As affected by the pandemic of novel coronavirus pneumonia, receipts of Wholesale & Retail Trade fell by 34.8% year-on-year to MOP 85.06 billion, and expenditure dropped by 32.0% to MOP 81.27 billion. Gross Surplus totalled MOP 3.07 billion, a decline of 75.2% year-on-year. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy slid by 44.5% year-on-year to MOP 13.36 billion, and Gross Fixed Capital Formation dropped by 34.6% to MOP 729 million.
