Results of visitor expenditure survey for the 4th Quarter of 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total spending of visitors (excluding gaming expenses) amounted to MOP6.31 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021, an increase of 7.4% year-on-year; total spending of same-day visitors (MOP1.19 billion) surged by 86.8% while that of overnight visitors (MOP 5.12 billion) dropped by 2.2%.

Schools are required by the SAR Government to promote student vaccination actively

Due to the severe pandemic situation in Hong Kong recently, and as there have been death or severe cases of young children infected with novel coronavirus, the risk of young children contracting novel coronavirus is relatively high. As of 20 February, the vaccination rate of children aged 3 to 11 years old in Macao is 8.5%, and the vaccination rate of young people aged 12 to 19 years old is 72.9%. As it takes at least two weeks for the body to develop sufficient resistance after vaccination, protection cannot be provided immediately. Therefore, in order to protect children and young people, it is urgent for them to get vaccinated against novel coronavirus.


Cancelation of “Infinite Love Marathon Concerts” on February 19th

Due to the adverse weather conditions, all the programmes of the “Infinite Love Marathon Concerts”, including stage performances, food stalls and interactive games, scheduled for today (19 February) at the Sai Van Lake Plaza, will be cancelled. CE meets Zhuhai officials to strengthen bilateral ties

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, today met with officials from Zhuhai to exchange views on cooperation regarding epidemic-prevention work, facilitation on boundary crossing, economic recovery and advancing construction of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.




UM receives Medal of Merit from Macao SAR government

The Macao SAR government today (18 February) held a ceremony to award decorations, medals, and certificates of merit to individuals and organisations in recognition of their achievements and contributions to society. Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng officiated at the ceremony. The State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine (SKL-QRCM) of the University of Macau (UM) and UM Vice Rector Rui Martins were awarded the Medal of Merit – Professions and the Medal of Merit – Education, respectively, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the fields of Chinese medical sciences and education.
