FBA co-hosts online marketing research forum with ICD School of Business and Marketing in France

The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) co-hosted an online marketing research forum with the ICD School of Business and Marketing in France. A number of experts and postgraduate students presented their latest research findings in the field of marketing and management. The forum aimed to provide an international platform for industry practitioners and scholars to exchange ideas, as well as a learning opportunity for postgraduate students.


Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey – 31 December 2020

According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, on 31 December 2020, investment of Macao residents (including individuals, the government and other legal entities but excluding Macao’s foreign exchange reserves) in securities issued by unrelated non-residents reached MOP1,025.0 billion at current market value, representing a rise of 6.4% from end-June 2020 or 11.3% from end-2019. Among the various instruments of portfolio investment, equity securities (including mutual funds and investment trust units), long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities were valued at MOP346.2 billion, MOP621.0 billion and MOP57.7 billion respectively. As compared with end-2019, equity securities, long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities increased by 15.5%, 6.8% and 46.5% respectively.

With the aim of encouraging Macao residents and travel trade to leverage social networks to spotlight Macao as a wonderful destination with diverse travel experiences to offer, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launches the “Incubation Plan for Macao’s KOL in Tourism”. The Plan encompasses a talent sharing session, content creation training camp and camp trainee video competition. Interested individuals are welcome to submit applications for the talent sharing session and training camp starting from 12 p.m. tomorrow (24 June).


9th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo slated to commence in July Online and offline synergy to expand business opportunities

Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and coordinated by Macau Travel Agency Association, the 9th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as the “Expo” or “MITE”) will be held at Halls A – B, Cotai Expo of the Venetian Macao from 9 to 11 July. The Expo will once again bring together cloud virtual and physical exhibitions radiant with five major highlights, to support members of the tourism and related industries to deepen cooperation and navigate business opportunities together.

Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau reminds the public to stay vigilant to fraudulent SMS

Recently, the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) found that the fraudulent groups are running rampant again. We have received public enquires about fraudulent SMS claiming from CTT and asking for credit card numbers to pay for the fees of registered mail with the number of RRxxxxxxxxxMO. CTT reiterates that we will not ask the public to make payments through SMS. The public should stay vigilant, raise the anti-deception awareness and not to believe the calls or SMS from strangers in order to avoid falling prey to these traps.


UM develops self-powered wearable tactile sensor based on bio-inspired dielectric

A research team led by Zhou Bingpu, an assistant professor in the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering (IAPME), University of Macau (UM), has designed a novel hybrid dielectric that simultaneously enables high sensitivity and ultra-wide linearity range of wearable and flexible capacitive/triboelectric tactile sensors. The proposed sensors can operate without external power supply and can be applied for health monitoring, human-machine interaction, and intelligent control. The study has been published in Advanced Materials, a leading academic journal in the field.


Cultural Affairs Bureau hosts a Promotion Conference for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Cultural Creative Design Competition

Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and the People´s Government of Zhuhai Municipality, and coordinated by the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Zhuhai Municipality, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) of the Macao SAR Government, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Cultural and Creative Industry Alliance, the 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Cultural Creative Design Competition is calling for submission of works. The IC will host a promotion conference on 26 June, at 3pm, at the Auditorium of the Macao Museum of Art. All interested parties are welcome to participate and admission is free.


Consumer Council completed over 1,000 patrols on Certified Shops during first five months of 2021

For the approval of shops’ entitlement to the “Certified Shop” emblem, the Consumer Council continues to carry out patrol on its “Adherents” and “Certified Shops” and has completed over 1,000 patrols for the evaluation of shops.
