UM FBA co-hosts International Human Resource Management Conference
The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) co-hosted the third International Human Resource Management (HRM) Conference with the School of Economics and Management of the University of Lisbon. The conference provided a platform for scholars, researchers, business practitioners, and postgraduate students to share their latest research findings and business insights related to sustainable development and human resource management.

Heliport full scale exercise is deemed smooth
The heliport carried out the full scale emergency exercise this morning to test the capacity of the personnel in handling emergencies and train them with the required skills. The exercise simulated the scenario of a tail rotor drive failure after the helicopter has taken off, the accident of which resulted in a forced heavy landing on the mainpad. All responsible parties activated their contingency plans to resolve the crisis.

UM honorary degree recipient Chio Fai Aglaia Kong to give talk next Monday on innovation
Chio Fai Aglaia Kong, an honorary degree recipient of the University of Macau (UM), on 13 December (Monday) will give a talk titled ‘Innovation for Billions’ at UM. During the talk, she will discuss how to create favourable conditions for the diversification of Macao’s industries and share her entrepreneurial experiences. All are welcome.

Over 1.9 million spectators joined five Macao Week roadshows in 2021 Macao Week in Chongqing marks culmination with wide popularity
The “Macao Week in Chongqing” marks the culmination of the “Macao Weeks” promotional event series in 2021, which kept branding Macao as a safe and glamorous travel destination among Mainland residents via various online and offline channels. Held at Jiefangbei Square in Yuzhong District of Chongqing from 2 to 6 December, the mega roadshow attracted close to 400,000 spectators on site and the live streams gained over 70 million live views. The event also garnered over 63 million pageviews for the hashtag “#Macao Week in Chongqing#” on Weibo.

Enterprises Expand Trade and Economic Exchange via “Macao Week in Chongqin”
The five-day event “Macao Week in Chongqin” concluded successfully today (6 December). The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion (IPIM) organised 24 Macao enterprises to exhibit and sell products during to roadshow, and joined hands with the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce to hold the “Chongqing-Macao-PSCs MICE, Commerce, Trade and Investment Presentation Session”, in which 70 enterprises’ representatives took part and 68 business matching sessions were held. During the roadshow, a number of influencers from the mainland and Macao livestreamed their visits to different exhibition areas, with over 100 million views recorded.

UM holds international conferences on smart technologies
The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (SKL-IoTSC), and Institute of Collaborative Innovation (ICI) recently held the International Conference on High Performance Big Data and Intelligent Systems (HBPD &IS) and the 2021 Macao Symposium on Cloud Computing and Intelligent Driving (CCID). Both events involved in-person and virtual elements, and attracted nearly 120 participants, including scholars, researchers, and students, from around the world. The three-day conferences provided a platform for participants to share their research results and exchange ideas on academic affairs and technological innovation.

Macao Polytechnic Institute and University of Bologna launch the first dual doctoral programme in Macao
The Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) and the University of Bologna (Unibo), Italy jointly launch the first dual doctoral degree programme in Macao. The programme aims to further strengthen the cultivation of high-calibre innovative talents in the field of information technology and engineering in line with the Macao SAR government’s policies as well as the development of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Greater Bay Area. Graduates will be awarded with respective doctoral degrees by both higher education institutions.

“Style．Encounter Moment” Fashion Parade showcases local designers’ works at the Macao Fashion Festival
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-ordinated by the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM), the “Style．Encounter Moment” Fashion Parade of the Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making will be held during the Macao Fashion Festival 2021 in Hall B of The Venetian Macao, at 4pm on 12 December (Sunday). Admission is free and the public is welcome to appreciate local fashion design, thereby gaining a better understanding of the development of Macao’s fashion industry.
