The 12th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum Convenes Today With Numbers of Participants Grown by 30% and Booths by 40%

The 12th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (12th IIICF), co-organised by the China International Contractors Association and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, opened today (22 July). It has attracted over 1,300 prominent figures in political, business and academic circles from over 500 units, discussing issues related to industry development in the post-pandemic era such as new opportunities, green development, financial innovation and emphasis on Macao elements to promote moderate economic diversification in Macao.

To further develop the academic advantages of the Sino-Portuguese area of Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI)and promote the exchange and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and regions, as well as to highlight Macao's role as a "Sino-Portuguese platform", MPI and the FORGES – Management Forum of Higher Education in Portuguese Speaking Countries and Regions launched the "Lecture Series with Sino-Portuguese Celebrities" online on the occasion of MPI’s 40th anniversary. Renowned experts and academics from China and Portuguese-speaking countries and regions will be invited to share advanced knowledge in their respective specialties and exchange their professional and academic experience. The lecture series will cover topics such as Chinese and Portuguese cultures, history, education, economic and trade cooperation, tourism, science and technology, smart city construction and regional studies, with a view to providing a diverse and interdisciplinary intellectual feast for academics, industry experts and stakeholders. The lectures will also enhance exchanges between China and Lusophone countries in priority areas of cooperation in the context of the country's development strategy, as well as actively play a role in Macao’s unique position as a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Ecological Pond in Avenida da Praia, Taipa opens on festivals and holidays

After planning and organising the ecological pond in the western section of Avenida da Praia, Taipa, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) adopted restricted opening of the pond for the sake of conservation. The area will now be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, so that the public can visit the area and learn about the biodiversity in the western section of the wetland.


Consumer price index (CPI) for June 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for June 2021 (102.50) went down by 0.08% year-on-year, smaller than the decrease in May (-0.51%) by 0.43 percentage points.


UM holds 7th Macau Symposium on Biomedical Sciences

The seventh Macau Symposium on Biomedical Sciences, organised by the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), kicked off today (23 July) at the university. A two-day hybrid event that involved both in-person and virtual elements, the symposium attracted over 300 biomedical experts, researchers, and students from China and abroad. Themed ‘Discovery’, this year’s symposium covers a wide range of topics in biomedical sciences.


CE to attend Legislative Assembly session on 10 August

(Macao – 23 July 2021) The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, will attend a plenary session of the Legislative Assembly on 10 August to answer Legislative Assembly members’ questions on Government policy and social issues.
