Macao Chinese Orchestra presents the Chinese Bowed Strings Concert
The Macao Chinese Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will present the Chinese bowed strings concert “Dance with Strings” on 20 November (Saturday), at 8pm, at the Dom Pedro V Theatre. Chen Jun, the renowned huqin virtuoso, will return to Macao and join hands with the Macao Chinese Orchestra to present the entrancing charm of Chinese bowstring music. Tickets are available from 30 October through the Macau Ticketing Network.

3rd “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” showcases diverse cultures and promotes exchange
Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and co-organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office, the 3rd “Encounter in Macao - Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” will be held from November to December this year, featuring six highlights, namely the Lusofonia Festival, the Traditional Music and Dance Performance in the Community, the China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival, the Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, The Belt and Road Cultural Talk Series - Samba and Dance, and the Taipa Houses 100th Anniversary Activities. The Festival not only showcases the diverse cultures of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, but also implements and deepens the establishment of Macao as a “Cultural Exchange Centre between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, offering residents and tourists a unique Sino-Portuguese cultural experience.

24th Lusofonia Festival to be held in December
Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, co-organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office and the Municipal Affairs Bureau, and supported by the Coca-Cola Beverages Co., Ltd. and Rentokil Initial Hong Kong Limited-Macau Branch, the 24th Lusofonia Festival, integrated in the 3rd “Encounter in Macao - Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, will be held from 10 to 12 December at the Taipa Houses. The Festival has a diversified activities programme, including cultural booths from the local lusophone communities, music and dance performances, gastronomy and games, allowing the public to experience the Portuguese customs and traditions and feel the Festival’s cheerful atmosphere.

Themed “The Gourmets of Cinema” the China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival presents a cinema feast
Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, with the support of the Galaxy Entertainment Group, the “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival”, integrated in the 3rd “Encounter in Macao - Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, will be held from 12 to 26 November. Themed “The Gourmets of Cinema”, the Film Festival presents 30 outstanding films related to gastronomy. The opening film “This Is Not What I Expected” will be screened on 12 November, at 7:30pm, at the Galaxy Cinemas. The public is welcome to pickup the tickets. The remaining movies will be screened at the Cinematheque.Passion, and the tickets will be on sale from 29 October.

Four research projects receive Academic Research Grant from the Cultural Affairs Bureau
Four research projects by local and overseas scholars received the 2021 Academic Research Grant from the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) after a strict evaluation process. The Academic Research Grant programme was set up to encourage the development of original academic research on Macao’s culture and the exchanges between Macao, Mainland China and other countries. Over the past three decades, IC has awarded grants to more than 160 research projects, which resulted in the publication of quite a number of academic monographs, with the aim of enhancing the influence of relevant academic research projects and promoting cultural exchange between Macao, Mainland China and other countries.
