Macao confirms five new imported COVID-19 cases

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has confirmed that in the past few days five new cases of imported COVID-19 infection have been recorded, taking to 24 the tally of confirmed cases in Macao.


UM Macao Fellow Programme now open for applications

The University of Macau (UM) Macao Fellow Programme is now open for applications. Permanent residents of Macao with a master’s or PhD degree from a reputable university are welcome to apply to join UM through this programme. This programme aims to nurture young scholars from Macao and to encourage qualified local talent to pursue career development in Macao. Launched in 2015, the programme has recruited 20 young scholars for UM through a rigorous selection process.


Posta Restante Service and Change of Office Hours at Hac Sa Wan (Areia Preta) Post Office and Mong Ha Post Office

In order to make it more convenient for the residents in Hac Sa Wan (Areia Preta) and Mong Ha to collect the registered mails, small packets and printed matters, starting from 1st April 2020, the Hac Sa Wan (Areia Preta) Post Office and Mong Ha Post Office will provide the “Posta Restante” service and the office hours will be changed as below:


Thematic Pack “20 Years of the Handover”

To celebrate Macao Handover marches into 20 years, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will launch a thematic pack “20 Years of the Handover”, especially on the date of the Anniversary of the Promulgation of the Basic Law of Macao, which marks the 3 milestones of the Handover. The pack consists of the stamps and overprint souvenir sheet of the issue “Commemoration of the Establishment of Macau Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China” launched in 1999, and the souvenir sheets of the issues “10th Anniversary of the Reunification of Macao with the Motherland” and “20th Anniversary of the Reunification of Macao with the Motherland”, which jointly issued with China Post and launched in 2009 and 2019 respectively.


Seventh designated hotel as venue of medical observation comes into service today

The Macao Special Administrative Region Government temporarily utilizes San Tung Fong Commercial Inn, South Wingas the seventh hotel designated for medical observation starting from today (March 22). The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has confirmed two new cases of COVID-19 infection, taking the tally of confirmed cases recorded in Macao to 19. In addition, there is a case of initially testing positive for the novel coronavirus.

Fifth designated hotel as venue of medical observation comes into service today

The Macao Special Administrative Region Government temporarily utilizes Metropole Hotel as the fifth hotel designated for medical observation starting from today (March 21). Metropole Hotel is situated in Macao peninsula and has a total supply of 112 rooms.


Applications for the 38th Macao Young Musicians Competition open in April

Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, the 38thMacao Young Musicians Competition, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will be postponed to between 15 August and 6 September. Applications will be open from 8 to 21 April. All interested eligible individuals are welcome to participate.
