Consumer Council released latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ Various functions available on website and app
Consumer Council conducted its first ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 9 January for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Areia Preta, Mong Há and Avenida de Venceslau de Morais in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo) or the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app.

Cultural Affairs Bureau’s 2019 desk calendar embodies collaboration between literature and illustration sectors, boosting cultural promotion
To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), launched the 2019 desk calendar under the theme “Cultural Promotion.Light Up Your Life”, which was designed and illustrated by local young illustrator Lam Ieong Kun and edited by 12 literary practitioners from Pen of Macau. This cross-sector collaboration showcases the local creativity, ushering the public into a year of good life in the light of culture.

UM’s increasing degree of internationalisation makes it favourable for students from Portuguese-speaking countries
The numbers are telling the same story: the University of Macau (UM) is a university with a high degree of internationalisation. More than 80 per cent of its faculty members are from overseas. It has partnerships with over 220 academic institutions in 32 countries. Its students come from different corners of the world, drawn by the English-speaking environment. In the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, it secured an impressive 5th spot in international outlook, in addition to being ranked among the top 400 overall.

Residents of Districts of Toi San, Fai Chi Kei and S. Lourenço can Handle Social Security Services within the District
To facilitate residents to handle various social security services, the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) has been providing community residents with services related to the social security contributions and the non-mandatory central provident fund system through the Public Services Centres under the Municipal Affairs Bureau (formerly the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau). Since January this year, the related services have been extended to Toi San Station and Fai Chi Kei Station of the Northern District Public Services Centre, and S. Lourenço Station of the Central District Public Services Centre. January happens to be a contribution month, and the FSS reminds residents in the district to go to the new service points to pay contributions.

UM to hold exhibition titled ‘Fusion of Chinese and Portuguese Cultural Horizons in the Painting’
A calligraphy and painting exhibition titled ‘The Fusion of the Chinese and Portuguese Cultural Horizons in the Painting’, co-organised by the University of Macau (UM) Confucius Institute and the Macau Orient Painting and Calligraphy Association, will be held in the UM Wu Yee Sun Library from 16 January to 22 January. All are welcome.
