“hush! Beach Concerts 2025”Open call for proposals for local bands, musicians and curators of art installations
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the “hush! Beach Concerts 2025” will be held from 18 to 19 October at Hac Sa Beach, presenting a multi-stage exhilarating music “marathon” and bringing a series of outreach activities from 11 October, including outreach performances in the community, music workshops, themed music development projects and art installations. The event will also feature innovative land and water-based sports and outdoor recreational activities, creating a cross-disciplinary large-scale music festival. IC is now calling for the participation of local bands, musicians and curators of outreach activities and art installations. Interested parties are welcome to apply from 17 to 31 July. All are welcome to participate in the event to promote the development of Macao’s pop music culture.

UM kicks off 39th Portuguese Language Summer Programme, attracting over 400 participants from around the world to experience Portuguese culture
The 39th Portuguese Language Summer Programme, organised by the Department of Portuguese of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) at the University of Macau (UM), has commenced. This year’s programme has attracted around 400 participants from various countries and regions, including the Chinese mainland, Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, and Timor-Leste. Over the three-week programme, participants will take part in language and cultural courses designed to help them learn the Portuguese language and experience Portuguese culture.

Cultural Affairs Bureau organises the “Macao Craft Market in the Greater Bay Area” at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2025
The “Macao Craft Market in the Greater Bay Area—Hong Kong Book Fair 2025”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), is held from 16 July to 22 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), featuring 40 Macao creative brands that will display and sell their cultural and creative products. The Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China issued RMB 6 billion sovereign bonds successfully in Macao
The Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China issued RMB-denominated sovereign bonds successfully today (16 July) in Macao. The Monetary Authority of Macao congratulates the successful issuance of sovereign bonds and expresses sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Finance for its long-term support to the development of bond market in Macao. The sovereign bonds issuance is offered to the professional investors, with an issuance size of RMB 6 billion, comprising tranches of RMB 3 billion 2-year sovereign bonds with a coupon rate of 1.43%, RMB 2 billion 5-year sovereign bonds with a coupon rate of 1.55% and RMB 1 billion 10-year sovereign bonds with a coupon rate of 1.72%. The issuance of sovereign bonds was highly welcomed by the market and recorded an over subscription.

Macao Grand Prix opens new café to highlight fusion of “tourism + sports + culture and creativity”
The Macao Grand Prix Museum (referred to as the “Museum”), under the management of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), is dedicated to enriching the diversity of exhibits and interactive elements, refining the supporting facilities and introducing leisure, cultural and creative elements in collaboration with industry partners. Next to the Museum, a new café was unveiled by an inauguration ceremony today (16 July). Epitomizing the concerted development of “tourism + sports + culture and creativity”, the cafe serves a distinctive menu themed after the Macau Grand Prix. There are dining tables designed after the champion racing car at the scale of 1:1. Visitors and residents can be immersed in the cultural atmosphere of motor races.

UM summer camp attracts outstanding students from around the world
The 6th Summer Camp for Outstanding Students, jointly organised by the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and the Institute of Collaborative Innovation (ICI) at the University of Macau (UM), attracted applications from over 600 higher education students from around the world. After a rigorous selection process, more than 90 students from world-renowned universities, including Purdue University, the University of Ottawa, the University of Bristol, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Beihang University, were chosen to participate in the camp. During the camp, participants took part in various learning activities, experienced UM’s environment, and explored the cultural charm of Macao.
