Consumer Council and DSE met with wholesalers and retailers to ensure prices of daily commodities remain stable

As Macao is facing two typhoons this week, the Consumer Council and Economic Bureau (DSE) met with local wholesalers and retailers of groceries and bottled water this morning (12 Sept) to understand the current stock and supply. The SAR Government reaffirms that there is ample supply of all local daily necessities and supply is in smooth operation, the Consumer Council and DSE have requested the industry to ensure continuous supply of all types of products.


UM Teaching Excellence Award recipient to give talk on legal education next Wed

The University of Macau (UM) on 19 September (next Wednesday) will hold a talk titled ‘Data vs Law: The Future of Legal Education in Macao’. Prof Shui Bing from the Faculty of Law, who is the recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award for the 2017/2018 academic year, will be the keynote speaker. During the talk, Prof Shui will share his insights on how legal education in Macao keeps pace with social changes amid the challenges and opportunities brought about by regional integration and the big data era. All are welcome.


Airport carries out periodical security exercise to simulate the bomb threat emergency

To test the capacity of handling aviation security emergencies on a periodical basis, the government bodies and the aviation operators involved in airport security jointly conducted a security exercise on “bomb threat” in Macau International Airport in late evening yesterday till early this morning to simulate the activation of the Airport Emergency Plan and the security contingency procedures in response to receiving a phone call on bomb threat and the finding of a genuine bomb in the cargo terminal.


Mortgage loans statistics – July 2018

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) decreased in July 2018. With regard to the outstanding balance, both RMLs and CRELs witnessed monthly increases.


Consumer Council released latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ Surveyed spots included 12 supermarkets in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish

Consumer Council conducted its first ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 10 September for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Areia Preta, Mong Há and Avenida de Venceslau de Morais in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.






Change of date of the concert “Mesmerising Austro-German Music” by the Macao Orchestra

Due to maintenance of the venue, the concert “Mesmerising Austro-German Music” by the Macao Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, originally scheduled to be held on Saturday, 5 January 2019, at 8pm at Dom Pedro V Theatre, has been postponed to Sunday, 27 January 2019, at 8pm. The venue and programme of the performance as well as the ticket prices remain unchanged. Spectators with tickets can enjoy the concert on the new date, 27 January, or may change their tickets at the Macau Ticketing Network outlets from 12 September 2018 to 7 January 2019.
