Experience Macao Carnival in Hong Kong sparks interest in vibrant summer journey

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) rolls out the “Experience Macao” Carnival in Hong Kong today and tomorrow (28 — 29 June). Themed as “Vibrant Summer, Explore Macao”, the Carnival features two exhibit zones with stage performances and interactive games. As part of the marketing endeavors, the lively showcase of Macao’s summer events and colorful “tourism +” inspires Hong Kong residents to enjoy a summer vacation in Macao.




Cultural Affairs Bureau announces the selection results of the “Local Curatorial Project” of the “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025”

After a strict selection process, the Cultural Affairs Bureau announced the six exhibition proposals chosen for the “Local Curatorial Project”, one of the key programmes of “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025” (hereinafter referred to as “Art Macao 2025”). The exhibitions, curated by the selected teams, will be presented in the “Art Macao 2025” and will be shortlisted in the preliminary selection for the 61stInternational Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia – Collateral Event from Macao, China.


UM professor of Portuguese Giorgio Sinedino receives Special Book Award of China

Giorgio Sinedino, assistant professor in the Department of Portuguese in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Macau (UM), has been awarded the 18th Special Book Award of China in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the promotion of Chinese culture worldwide. The award is the highest honour that China’s publishing sector bestows upon foreign individuals.



Transport and communications statistics for May 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 252,774 as at end-May 2025, up by 0.9% year-on-year. In May, cross-border vehicular traffic (934,175 trips) rose by 23.1% year-on-year, whereas passenger ferry trips (6,732 trips) and arriving and departing commercial flights at the Macau International Airport (4,481 trips) dropped by 5.2% and 9% respectively. As at end-May, number of mobile phone subscribers (1,471,106) and internet subscribers (779,082) showed respective growth of 4.1% and 5% year-on-year.
