UM students win first prize in global AI competition
A team of students from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of the University of Macau (UM) participated in the 2024 Tencent AI Arena Global Open Competition and won the first prize in the international final of the Intelligent Agent Gaming Algorithm Track. The team received a prize of RMB 100,000. The competition attracted over 2,000 teams from nearly 390 universities across 18 countries and regions, including the UK, Japan, Germany, the US, and Singapore.

Cultural Affairs Bureau announces selection results of the programme “Commissioning Performing Arts Productions”
In order to promote the development of Macao into a “City of Performing Arts”, create performance opportunities for local performing arts industries, highlight Macao’s role as the “One Base” platform for cultural exchanges, and enhance the image of a “Cultural Macao”, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) launched a new round of the programme “Commissioning Performing Arts Productions” this year, calling for proposals of local commissioned productions. Six works were selected in this programme and their commissioned productions are expected to premiere between 2025 and 2026.

Christmas Market takes place in Tap Seac Square for 17 consecutive days from today
To spice up the festive atmosphere, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) holds the Christmas Market in Tap Seac Square for 17 consecutive days starting from this afternoon (16 December). In addition to the characteristic booths selling Christmas gifts and food, play facilities such as merry-go-round, little Christmas train and inflatable slide are available to celebrate the joyful Christmas and New Year with the public and the tourists.

Grace period for the exchange of four previously issued Zodiac banknotes ending this Thursday (19 December)
The grace period for four previously issued Zodiac Banknotes (including the Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit Zodiac Banknotes) will end on 19 December 2024 (Thursday). The Monetary Authority of Macao would like to remind those registrants who have not yet conducted the note exchange to exchange for their subscribed notes at their previously selected bank on or before this Thursday.
