Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – November 2024

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today (13 December) that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP232.6 billion (USD29.02 billion) at the end of November 2024. The reserves increased by 1.7% from the revised value of MOP228.6 billion (USD28.56 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-November 2024 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 90.0% of pataca M2 at end-October 2024.

The plaque unveiling ceremony of Edifício dos Arquivos Históricos do Governo, located at Plots O4a and O4b at the intersection of Avenida Son On and Rua Heng Long in Pac On, Taipa, was held today (12 December), hosted by the Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, Ho Iat Seng, accompanied by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ao Ieong U; the Chief of Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ho Ioc San; the President of Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man; the Director of the Public Works Bureau, Lam Wai Hou; and the Director of the Archives of Macao, Lou Hong Wai.



Interdepartmental AML/CFT Working Group Plenary Meeting

The Interdepartmental Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Working Group with its members from the Public Prosecutions Office, the Commission against Corruption of Macao, the Macao Customs Service, the Legal Affairs Bureau, the Monetary Authority of Macao, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, the Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the Financial Services Bureau, the Judiciary Police, the Public Security Police Force, the Housing Bureau, the Independent Committee for the Exercise of Disciplinary Power over Solicitors, and the Financial Intelligence Office of the Unitary Police Service (GIF, the coordinating agency), held the 2nd plenary meeting of the year on 12 December 2024. Around 60 representatives from 13 member agencies participated in the meeting.

Organised by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition “New Perspectives: Modern and Contemporary Works from the Macao Museum of Art” will be open from 13 December 2024 to 25 May 2025 at the exhibition gallery on the first and second floors of MAM.


Meeting of Trade Promotion Leaders from Hong Kong and Macao – Enhancing Business Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area

On 11 December, President of the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of the Macao Special Administrative Region Vincent U, along with the team responsible for investment promotion, convention and exhibitions, and China-PSC Platform, visited Hong Kong to meet with President of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (referred to as "HKTDC") Margaret Fong Shun Man, and Assistant Executive Director Gu Jingmin, Assistant President Jenny Koo.


Intermittent interruption of certain electronic services due to maintenance of IAM system

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out maintenance of the information system from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on 14 December. During the period, certain electronic services will be interrupted intermittently. The public are advised to pay attention to the arrangement. The IAM apologises for any inconvenience caused.


Mortgage loans statistics – October 2024

According to statistics released today (12 December) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) both decreased month-on-month in October 2024. With regard to the outstanding balances, both RMLs and CRELs witnessed declines on a monthly basis.
