Results of industrial survey 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 861 establishments operating in industrial related activities in Macao (covering Electricity, Gas & Water Supply and Manufacturing) in 2023, down by 30 year-on-year. Meanwhile, total number of persons engaged rose by 306 to 10,925. Receipts and Expenditure of these establishments amounted to MOP12.11 billion and MOP8.25 billion respectively in 2023, up by 15% and 6.6% year-on-year. Gross Surplus increased by 38.5% year-on-year to MOP3.86 billion. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy went up by 23.1% to MOP5.97 billion, while Gross Fixed Capital Formation declined by 31% to MOP200 million.

Commemorative postmark cancellation service of “World Post Day – UPU”

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) jointly held an overseas tourism promotional event for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, namely “Greater Bay Area – Connecting Great Experiences”, in Indonesia yesterday (26 September). As the National Day Golden Week holiday is approaching and the number of tourists coming to Macao is expected to increase, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will pay extra attention to the environmental hygiene in the various tourist areas and launch different corresponding measures. IAM steps up inspection of food and beverage establishments for adequate food safety management during festivals and holiday
With the approach of the National Day Golden Week holiday, in order to safeguard food safety during the holiday peak season for the food and beverage industry, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has stepped up a series of inspection and monitoring work to safeguard food safety and arranged inspection and promotion in food establishments, souvenir shops and takeaway shops in popular areas in Macao during the holiday to ensure food safety. IAM urges the food industry not to neglect food safety and environment hygiene due to increase in customer flow, in order to jointly safeguard the food safety in Macao.

Employment survey for June – August 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the general unemployment rate and the unemployment rate of local residents for June - August 2024 continued to remain at 1.7% and 2.3% respectively. Both indicators stayed the same as in the previous period (May - July), but decreased by 0.1 percentage point when compared with the same period (June - August) in 2019. Meanwhile, the underemployment rate was 1.2%, down by 0.1 percentage point from the previous period.
