Environmental statistics 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the mean air temperature in Macao in 2024 was 23.6 ºC, which was 0.8 ºC above the climatological normal (i.e. average value for 1991-2020). The highest temperature was 35.4 ºC in August. There were 42 very hot days (with maximum temperature at or above 33 ºC) and 29 hot nights (with minimum temperature at or above 28 ºC), representing respective increases of 10.7 days and 17.5 nights when compared to the climatological normal. On the other hand, number of cold days (with minimum temperature at or below 12 ºC) decreased by 10.1 to 29 days as compared to the climatological normal.

FDCT and FAPESP Sign Cooperation Agreement to Promote Scientific Innovation and Academic Exchange
To promote international scientific research cooperation and academic exchange, the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) officially signed a cooperation agreement on 3 April 2025. Under this agreement, both parties will jointly launch funding programmes for collaborative research projects, as well as organizing academic seminars, workshops, and exchanges among researchers, with the aim of advancing scientific innovation and strengthening research collaboration between Macao and Brazil.

FDCT and DSEDT Organised the “Macao–Mainland China Sci-Tech Innovation Delegation to Brazil” to Deepen China–Brazil Cooperation in Science and Technology

From 29 March to 7 April, the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) and the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) co-organised the “Macao–Mainland China Sci-Tech Innovation Delegation to Brazil,” arranging for representatives from higher education institutions, technology enterprises and investment institutions from Macao and the Mainland to visit São Paulo, Brazil. The visit enhanced exchanges and cooperation in scientific research and industry between the two regions, and further expanded the platform for Macao–Brazil collaboration in science and technology, laying a stronger foundation for future cooperation.

To leverage Macao’s pivotal role as the “Precise Connector” between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, Macao Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised a 16-member delegation of entrepreneurs from mainland China and Macao to conduct business exchanges in three cities in Brazil from 14 to 18 April. Macao Museum of Art holds the exhibition of Shiwan ceramics from the MAM Collection to present the beauty of Lingnan art traditions and innovations
Organised by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition “Gems from Kilns: Shiwan Ceramics from the Macao Museum of Art Collection” will be inaugurated on 16 April. Divided into four major themes including “Shiwan Ceramic Roof Ridge” “Shiwan Pottery,” “Floral And Faunal Imagery” and “Shiwan Figurines”, the exhibition features 123 pieces/sets of Shiwan ceramic treasures, tracing the journey of Shiwan ceramics from a regional craft to one engaging in international dialogues, and allowing viewers to experience the Lingnan legend forged by earth and fire. Since the mid-Ming dynasty, Shiwan ceramics are characterized by vibrant glazes and unique techniques that blend pottery craftsmanship introduced by immigrants from the Central Plains with local Lingnan culture. Residents and tourists are welcome to visit.
