UM, UN Commission hold 10th anniversary joint conference

The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Law (FLL) and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (UNCITRAL-RCAP) today (1 December) held their 10th anniversary joint conference titled ‘National and Regional Harmonisation of International Trade Law: A Decade in Retrospect and the Desiderata of the Future’, where landmark developments in the harmonisation of international trade law in the past decade and future needs were discussed.



Nostalgia of Macao – “Evolution of Advertising” Exhibition of History of Advertising opens at IAM Gallery

Facilitated and co-organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), and organised by the Association of Advertising Agents of Macau, Nostalgia of Macao – “Evolution of Advertising” Exhibition of History of Advertising is officially inaugurated today (1st December). It is the most comprehensive exhibition of history of advertising in Macao in terms of the content covered, showing the development and evolution of advertising industry since 1950s through the display of special installations and multi-media replication.


UM and other universities in GBA receive national and Guangdong education achievement awards for their MOOC-based collective development model

The University of Macau (UM) and the participating universities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Universities Online Open Course Alliance received a second prize of the National Education Achievement Award by the Ministry of Education, and a first prize of the 10th Guangdong Education Achievement Award (Higher Education) by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province for their implementation of the massive online open course (MOOC) based collective development model.


William Shiyuan Wang gives talk at UM on evolution of Homo sapiens

The University of Macau held a Doctor honoris cause Lecture today (1 December). Prof William Shiyuan Wang, honorary doctor of UM, gave a talk titled ‘SAPIENS—a Journey of 6 Million Years’. Referencing findings from fields such as anthropology, archaeology, genetics, and cognitive neuroscience, Prof Wang examined the six-million-year evolution of Homo sapiens and engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics such as the development of artificial intelligence (AI). The event attracted many UM faculty and students, as well as people from different sectors of the community.


2023 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon to kick off this Sunday

The 2023 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, is set to take place on 3 December (Sunday). The Organizing Committee held a pre-race press conference today (1 December) to introduce the race details and arrange for a number of invited long-distance runners to meet the media.


“Macao-Hengqin Pavilion” Debuts at Spain’s Business Travel Fairs, Promoting the New Model of “Multi-Venue Event”

Macao and Hengqin joined hands to set up the “Macao-Hengqin Pavilion” at the IBTM World 2023 held in Barcelona, Spain from 28 to 30 November. This marked the first time for the model of “multi-venue event” to be jointly promoted in Europe. The pavilion aimed to showcase the MICE environment, policy and opportunities, entry facilitation measures, and support services of Macao and Hengqin to potential clients from Europe, other countries and regions. The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the Economic Development Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, and 11 Macao companies participated in this event, attracting MICE organisers to hold MICE events in Macao and Hengqin.



UM holds activities to promote applications of satellite technology

The Centre for Science and Engineering Promotion of the University of Macau (UM) held four science outreach workshops, with the aim of promoting knowledge and applications of satellite technology. The workshops, which also served to prepare students for the BOC STEM Talent Challenge to be held in December, attracted the participation of teachers and students from 13 local secondary schools.
