Macao Polytechnic University’s Research Findings on Digital Watermarking Technology Published in Top International Academic Journal
Associate Professor Yuan Xiaochen of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Macao Polytechnic University and her research team has published a high-level academic paper related to multiple watermarking technology, “Parallel Multiple Watermarking Using Adaptive Inter-Block Correlation”, in the top international academic journal "Expert Systems with Applications". This journal is a top international academic journal in the fields of computer science and artificial intelligence. It is a “double Q1” journal; that is, it belongs to both SCIE Q1 and is also a first zone journal in the computer science category of the SCI division of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is an A-level journal recognized by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and is ranked 5th among artificial intelligence journals in the H-index on Google Scholar.

“Art Macao 2023” connects the city with fantastic ideas and promotes the professional development of local art
“Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023”, the mega international cultural and artistic event of the city, was inaugurated in July to bring together creative forces from around the world. Featuring a total of 31 art exhibitions in 28 locations across eight sections, namely the Main Exhibition, the Public Art Exhibition, the City Pavilion, the Special Exhibition, the Invitational Exhibition by Local Artists, Local Curatorial Project, Art Exhibition of Higher Education Institutions and the Collateral Exhibition, as well as 600 sessions of outreach activities, the event gathered over 200 artists (groups) and art institutions from more than 20 countries and regions, connecting the city with fantastic ideas from contemporary visual arts, developing the International Art Biennale into a brand, and infusing this World Heritage city with a new cultural tourism experience which is both profound and fun-filled. The event has attracted participation of around 16,000,000 spectators, recording the same compared with the first edition.

IPIM and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province Join Hands to Lead Macao Entrepreneurs to Explore Business Opportunities in Nansha
Jointly organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, as one of the four “Enterprise Investment Expedition” missions of the “2023 Global Investment Promotion Conference for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, the “Macao Entrepreneur Delegation for Business Exchange in Guangdong (Nansha)” took place on 9 November. Led by President of IPIM Vincent U and Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Division of the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province Wang Yi, more than 30 delegates from Macao business associations, manufacturing, MICE trade, logistics, cross-border e-commerce, retail trade and cultural and creative industries, paid an inspection visit to Nansha to learn more about the development prospects of the local import and export trade, international industries and technological innovation, facilitating exchanges and co-operation between Guangdong and Macao enterprises through the business symposium. The participants of the event included Deputy Executive Chief of Nansha District Ma Jiehong, and representatives of the Bureau of Commerce of Nansha District, the Nansha Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office and Investment Promotion Bureau of Guangzhou Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone.

UM develops novel magnetic soft robots with on-demand hardening
A research team led by Xu Qingsong, professor in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Macau (UM), has developed a novel on-demand hardening magnetic soft robot. With the advantages of on-demand hardening and flexible deployment, the robot not only can perform a given task alone with high output forces, but can also be used in conjunction with existing surgical robots, representing a significant advance in the design and application of magnetically controlled robots. The research results have been published in Research, an internationally renowned journal under Science.

MPU Held the 6th National Conference on Cognitive Translation Studies, Contributing to the “One Base” Construction of Macao
In order to further promote and deepen the development of Cognitive Translation Studies in China, to enhance research and exchange between domestic and international scholars in this field, and to contribute to the construction of Macao as “a base for exchange and cooperation with Chinese culture as the mainstream and the coexistence of different cultures”, the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Macao Polytechnic University successfully held “The 6th National Conference on Cognitive Translation Studies and 2023 Annual Conference of CACSEC-Society of Cognitive Translation Studies”, in collaboration with the China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese-Society of Cognitive Translation Studies. This is the first National Conference on Cognitive Translation Studies that has been held in Macao, building a platform for scholars to exchange ideas and further promote and deepen the research and development of Cognitive Translation Studies as well as academic exchanges.
