Four briefings on “Law on Veterinary Clinical Care and Commercial Activity of Animals” to be held this month

As the Law No. 4/2023 “Law on Veterinary Clinical Care and Commercial Activity of Animals” will come into effect on 1 April this year, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will hold four briefings in mid-March with the representatives from the Council of Veterinary Medicine Professionals, Project Assessment and Inspection Committee, Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau to explain to the sector the details of the conditions for certification of professional accreditation of veterinary surgeons and the code of professional ethics, and introduce the guidelines on relevant business activities, installation of establishments, etc. It is aimed to deepen the sector’s understanding of the details of the law and facilitate its implementation. Interested individuals can register for the briefings from now on through the platforms of Macao One Account or Business & Associations Platform.


Commemorative Coins of Lunar Year of the Dragon

Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will start to sell the commemorative coins of Lunar Year of the Dragon released by the Monetary Authority of Macao at the Philatelic Shop of General Post Office on 13th March 2024 (Wednesday) . The selling prices are as follows:


34th Macao Arts Festival highlights preview reinterpret classics with innovative approaches

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 34th Macao Arts Festival (MAF) will be held in May. Previews of eight programmes are now launched, including the Grand Opening: Jungle Book reimagined, Duck Pond, Sleeping Beauty, Macbettu, The Fury of My Thoughts, The Little Book, Anamnesis no.: XXXX, and Frances Yip and Macao Chinese Orchestra. Details of the full programme of the 34th MAF will be announced later.


Certain e-services to be suspended intermittently during IAM system maintenance

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out information system maintenance from 8 p.m. to midnight on 8 March, during which certain e-services will be suspended intermittently. The public are advised to pay attention to the above announcement.


[Century-old Global Authority Is Optimistic About Macao] Nearly 250 International MICE Leaders Gathered in Macao to Attend 2024 UFI Asia Pacific Conference

In line with the development strategy of “1+4” industries, another prominent international MICE event - 2024 UFI Asia Pacific Conference - is scheduled to be held in Macao from 7 to 8 March, following the successful conclusion of the first international event - GBA International Sports Business Summit - held in February this year. UFI Managing Director/CEO Kai Hattendorf, and nearly 250 exhibition managers, professional exhibition organisers, and venue managers from 20 countries and regions, including European and ASEAN countries, will gather in Macao to attend the 2024 UFI Asia Pacific Conference.


[Internationally Recognised 1+4 MICE Capacities] UFI Event Stimulates Macao’s Economic Development

2024 UFI Asia Pacific Conference is scheduled for 7 to 8 March. As the event organiser, the Macau Fair & Trade Association expects that the two-day Conference will drive the development of different sectors in Macao, namely booth construction, media, translation, public relations, F&B and other exhibition-related industries. At the same time, some representatives from the local MICE industry believe that attracting more international conventions and exhibitions to be held in Macao does not only enhance Macao’s international influence, but also create more opportunities for the industry to practice and participate in international events, and to interact with their international counterparts. It will not only foster the development of the local professional MICE team and a mature MICE platform to attract international visitors, but also help the industry seize the “1+4” development opportunities.


Demographic statistics for the whole year and the 4th quarter of 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the total population of Macao (683,700) at end-2023 increased by 1.6% (10,900) year-on-year, mainly due to a rise (7,500) in the number of non-resident workers living in Macao. Female population accounted for 53.4% of the total population. Analysed by age group, the proportion of youth (aged 0-14) dropped by 0.9 percentage points to 13.2%, whereas that of elderly (aged 65 and above) grew by 0.7 percentage points to 14.0%. The elderly population exceeded the youth population for the first time. Correspondingly, the ageing ratio climbed to 106.1%.


Commemorative Postmark Cancellation Service of“World Forest Day”

To celebrate the World Forest Day, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at Senado Square, from 10:00 to 17:00 on 21st March 2024 to provide commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “World Forest Day”.


The IMF Concludes its In-person Consultation on Macao’s Macroeconomic and Financial Assessments

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission conducted its Article IV Consultation for Macao SAR during 21 February to 6 March 2024 and preliminarily concluded the SAR’s macroeconomic and financial assessments.
