First Forestry-Themed Conference in Macao GLSTF 2023 to Kick off on 21-22 November

The Global Legal & Sustainable Timber Forum (GLSTF) 2023, co-hosted by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), will be held on 21-22 November at the Galaxy International Convention Center, on the theme “Connect, Cooperate and Share to Promote the Recovery of the Global Tropical Timber Market”. It is the first forestry-themed conference held in Macao.


IPIM Leads Nearly 50 Delegates of Macao Enterprises to Attend the 6th China International Import Expo

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has organised a delegation of nearly 50 Macao entrepreneurs and 41 Macao exhibitors to attend the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai today (4 November), aiming to help enterprises seize the opportunity of CIIE to promote Macao’s appropriate economic diversification in line with its “1+4” appropriately diversified development strategy.


Unmanned aircraft activities are banned during 70th Macau Grand Prix

The Macao SAR Government will ban all unmanned aircraft activities in the Macao Peninsula during the 70th Macau Grand Prix to ensure that the event will take place in a safe environment.




【Enhance service quality】MGTO confirms awarded merchants of 2023 at Annual Meeting of QTSAS Assessment Committee

The Assessment Committee of the Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme (QTSAS or the “Scheme”) convened its Annual Meeting of 2023 today (7 November) to review and approve the assessment results and the list of 331 accredited merchants in the three categories namely travel agencies, catering and retail businesses in 2023. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hopes that the Scheme can offer an ongoing encouragement for tourism industry operators in pursuit of higher-quality tourism services at large in Macao.


IFTM Cultural and Heritage Management Programme students conducted intangible cultural heritage themed field study to Foshan

Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) collaborated with Foshan University (FOSU) to carry out a 5-day field study with the theme of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) in Foshan, Guangdong Province from 19 to 23 October, 2023. This field study was initiated by Dr. Chen Zhaoyu, Vicky from the School of Tourism Management in IFTM, and Dr. Zhongyuan Xie from School of Humanities and Education in Foshan University with the support by the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office in FOSU. FOSU is an educational partner of IFTM in Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) with offering joint Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Business Management. This time, 23 IFTM Cultural and Heritage Management Programme students and students from School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering and School of Humanities and Education in FOSU conducted the field survey to understand the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) elements and their protection and management in Foshan.

The latest dates of posting for Christmas airmail is listed in post offices and on CTT website. The public are advised to post the mail item as early as possible.


Mobile payment and payment card statistics – 3rd Quarter 2023

According to statistics released today (7 November) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, in the third quarter of 2023, the number and the value of transactions of local mobile payment tools both witnessed growth on a quarterly basis. Meanwhile, the total numbers of personal credit cards and debit cards issued by banks in Macao increased from the previous quarter. The credit card turnover rose whereas the debit card turnover dropped.


Nearly 7,000 visits recorded at Macau New Neighbourhood show flats

Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR), a private legal person, is building the Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) project in Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. MNN is a large-scale livelihood project that comprises residences, a health station, a school, a seniors’ service centre and a family community service centre. The MNN project does not use the government’s public funds and is operated according to the market mechanism. The project is to serve Macau residents and is carried out based on market behaviour.
