Response to Japan’s announcement of launch of discharge of Fukushima nuclear-contaminated water into the ocean
Japan announced that discharge of Fukushima nuclear-contaminated water will be launched in the next few days. The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government strongly deplores this. To safeguard the food safety and public health in Macao, the Macao SAR Government will adopt necessary measures to ban the import of live and fresh food products, food products of animal origin, sea salt and seaweed, including vegetables, fruits, milk and milk products, aquatic products and their derivatives, meat and meat products, poultry eggs, etc., from a total of 10 prefectures and regions, namely Fukushima Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, Tochigi Prefecture, Ibaraki Prefecture, Gunma Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture, Niigata Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, Saitama Prefecture and Tokyo Metropolis, from 24 August 2023.

IFTM students participated in “Cultural Exchange Activity on Chinese Ceramic Intangible Cultural Heritage and Craftmanship”
Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) collaborated with Tsinghua University to carry out a 10-day cultural exchange activity on Chinese ceramic intangible cultural heritage and craftmanship. This activity was initiated by Mr. Wu Haoyu, an associate professor from the Department of Ceramic Design at Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, who invited six students from IFTM to join. With the theme of ceramic culture and its traditional craftmanship, IFTM students gained an understanding of the cultural diversity and significance of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. The IFTM student group was led by Dr. Chen Zhaoyu, Vicky from the School of Tourism Management. The entire trip included the visits to Beijing, Jingdezhen City and Wuyuan County in Shangrao City in Jiangxi Province from 31 July to 9 August, 2023. The students visited various places in Beijing, such as the Caochangdi International Art Village, 798 Art District, Tsinghua University, and the Prince Kung’s Palace Museum, to understand the creative ways of interpreting artworks and the creative spaces of artists, as well as to experience the cultural atmosphere of the city.

Macao Polytechnic University welcomes 2,200 new students at the start of the academic year, the Rector sends a message to inherit the spirit of love for the motherland and for Macao
Macao Polytechnic University held the opening ceremony of the 2023/2024 academic year and the first MPU lecture on August 21, to launch a new study journey with 2,200 new students of Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral programmes from Macao, the Greater Bay Area, all over the country, as well as Portuguese-speaking countries, and regions overseas. Rector Im Sio Kei expressed his wishes to the freshmen to inherit the spirit of love for the motherland and for Macao, to be the pioneers of the new era, to contribute wisdom and strength to the construction of the country and Macao.

[Showcasing the Role of Green MICE Platform] 2023MIECF Successfully Concludes, Nearly 400 Meetings Facilitated 40 Co-operation Projects
The “2023 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2023MIECF) hosted by the Macao SAR Government culminated in success today (20 August). The four-day event incorporated close to 20 forums and meetings held by professional organisations in different industries and five business matching sessions were arranged by the 2023MIECF, where nearly 400 business matching meetings were conducted, with almost 40 partnerships clinched. As such, the 2023MIECF has continued to generate green business co-operation opportunities.
