Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ao Ieong U leads a delegation to San Francisco, United States, for exchange activities

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ao Ieong U led a delegation to San Francisco, the United States (US), from 28 to 30 May (San Francisco time) to participate in a number of exchange activities, promoting economic growth and trade, talent development, cultural exchange and co-operation between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the San Francisco Bay Area, with an introduction to Macao’s Talent Recruitment Programmes. On 29 May (San Francisco time), Secretary Ao Ieong U attended the U.S.-China Bay to Bay Dialogue where she delivered a speech. During the event, the delegation from the Macao SAR Government discussed topics such as development opportunities and friendly exchanges in the Greater Bay Area with representatives from Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong SAR and California, US. While in San Francisco, the delegation also visited the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco and communicated with the Chinese students and scholars association of a local university, as well as a Chinese chamber of commerce, a Chinese group and youth students in the United States.


UM presents academic prizes to outstanding graduates

The University of Macau (UM) held the Academic Prize Presentation Ceremony 2024 today (31 May) and presented 15 academic prizes to 53 outstanding graduates in recognition of their remarkable performance in various disciplines. Over the past academic year, the university has awarded more than 60 scholarships and academic prizes to more than 400 students, with a total value of over MOP 4.2 million.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau presents Romeo and Juliet, a contemporary reinvention of Shakespeare’s immortal tale created by Britain’s most popular choreographer, in a four-show run staged from 11 to 14 of July (Thursday to Sunday) at the Macao Cultural Centre’s Grand Auditorium.

Opening of the Guia Lighthouse to the public and series of commemorative activities for “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day” to be held from this weekend

On the occasion of “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day”, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will host a series of special activities on Saturdays and Sundays in June, showcasing the unique appeal of traditional culture through an array of thematic workshops. The Guia Lighthouse, a World Heritage site, will be open to the public with free admission on the 8 and 9 June. In addition, free immersive sessions of the exhibition “Visiting the Ruins of St. Paul’s in Space and Time – Exhibition of Virtual Reality at the Ruins of St. Paul’s” will be available at a designated period in June, in a bid to enhance the public’s knowledge on Macao’s cultural heritage.


[Attracting Business and Investment] IPIM Holds Catering Sector Exchange Session in Changsha to Interest Companies to Invest in Macao

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce and the Changsha Commerce Bureau jointly held an exchange and matchmaking session “Xingcheng-Macao Building a Better Future” in Changsha City, Hunan Province (also known as: Xingcheng, “Star City” in Chinese), attracting over 20 large catering chain enterprises in Hunan Province to attend the event. After the exchange, five catering enterprises submitted their investment proposals on the spot and intended to expand their business to Macao through the Investor’s One-Stop Service provided by IPIM.
