Former Mater Dei Church and Exhibition of Virtual Reality will close temporarily next week for regular maintenance

Due to the regular maintenance and inspection of the former Mater Dei Church, the Ruins of St. Paul’s (including the Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt) will be temporarily closed to the public on 17 October. The exhibition “Visiting the Ruins of St. Paul’s in Space and Time” – Exhibition of Virtual Reality at the Ruins of St. Paul’s will be suspended from 16 to 18 October for equipment maintenance.


【Culmination in success】Fireworks company from the United Kingdom wins gold in the 31st Macao International Fireworks Display Contest

Curtains were drawn upon the 31st Macao International Fireworks Display Contest (“the Contest”) tonight (11 October) tonight. Acting Director of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Cheng Wai Tong, joined other guests at the prize-giving ceremony. The ten fireworks companies from worldwide painted wonderful pyrotechnic artworks across the sky. After a fierce high-level competition, MLE Pyrotechnics Limited from the United Kingdom gained the championship, followed by Hunan Celebration Fireworks Group Company Ltd from China and Marutamaya Ogatsu Fireworks Co, Ltd. from Japan as the winners of silver and bronze.






UM to hold China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Ocean Research and Education Symposium

The University of Macau (UM) will hold the 2nd China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Ocean Research and Education Symposium on 12 and 13 October. The symposium, which aims to strengthen cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and promote integrated development, will bring together renowned ocean experts from China, Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, and other countries and regions to discuss cutting-edge science, innovative theories and technologies in ocean science and technology.

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), two performances of the Opera in Two Acts The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini, integrated in the 35th Macao International Music Festival, originally scheduled to be held at 3pm and 8pm on 8 October, were cancelled due to the hoisting of the typhoon no. 8 signal. Spectators with tickets can request the respective refund at the Macau Ticketing Network outlets from 11 October to 31 October by presenting the intact tickets.
