[Opening on 17 August] 2023MIECF Promotes Green Innovation and Environmental Co-operation
The 2023 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2023MIECF) will be held from 17 to 20 August at Cotai Expo, The Venetian Macao under the theme of “Building an Ecological Civilisation Through Innovative Initiatives”. It will continue to function as a professional exhibition dedicated to “carbon neutrality”, bring exhibitors and traders at home and abroad together to create green business opportunities, and build up a platform for green exchanges.

Rental statistics for the 2nd quarter of 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average rent per square metre of usable area for residential units in Macao was MOP129 in the second quarter of 2023, down by 0.8% quarter-to-quarter. Among the districts with a relatively high number of lease declarations, the average rents for residential units in Barra & Manduco (MOP126) and Areia Preta & Iao Hon (MOP123) both fell by 1.6%, whereas the average rents for those in NAPE & Aterros da Baía da Praia Grande (MOP129) and NATAP (MOP146) increased by 0.8% and 0.7% respectively.

International banking statistics – June 2023
According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the proportion of international business in the local banking sector retreated in the second quarter of 2023. At end-June 2023, the share of international assets in total banking assets decreased to 84.7% from 85.6% at end-March 2023, while the share of international liabilities in total banking liabilities fell to 82.6% from 83.4%.

Tap Siac Craft Market in autumn calls for stall operators and creative handicraft workshops
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the Tap Siac Craft Market in autumn will be held from 16 to 19 and from 23 to 26 November at Tap Siac Square. The calls for stall operators and creative handicraft workshops are open from 15 August to 5 September and from 15 to 29 August, respectively. Applications are free of charge.

Grace period for the exchange of the Tiger and Rabbit Zodiac banknotes and the XXIV Olympic Winter Games banknotes ending this Friday
The grace period for the Tiger and Rabbit Zodiac banknotes and the previously issued XXIV Olympic Winter Games banknotes will end on 18 August 2023 (Friday). The Monetary Authority of Macao would like to remind those registrants who have not yet conducted the note exchange to exchange for their subscribed notes at their previously selected bank on or before this Friday.

Macao sees steady recovery in 1H as top outbound destination for mainland tourists

Macao ranked first in terms of destinations for mainland residents travelling outbound in the first half of 2023, according to the “Big Data Report on Outbound Tourism in the First Half of 2023”, recently published by the China Tourism Academy.
