1st Macao International Shorts Film Festival presents over 50 films creating a cultural exchange platform for international films

The 1st Macao International Shorts Film Festival, jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Galaxy Entertainment Group, was held from 23 to 30 March, featuring outstanding short films worldwide. With a variety of activities such as screening activities, thematic workshops and panels by industry professionals, the Festival not only promoted Macao’s film productions, but also introduced the diversity and innovative spirit of international and Asian films to the audience.


【Visitor arrivals and hotel occupancy rates go well in the first quarter】 MGTO forges ahead to expand overseas visitor markets

Provisional figures of the Public Security Police Force show that visitor arrivals to Macao topped 88.84 million in the first quarter of 2024, which comprises 6.30 million Mainland visitors, 1.818 million and 182,000 visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan region, as well as 585,000 international visitors. The total volume of visitors surged by 79.6% compared with the first quarter of 2023, while average daily visitor arrivals rebounded to 84.8% of the level in the first quarter of 2019. According to the Statistics and Census Service, the average occupancy rate of local hotels between January and February reached 85.8%. The statistics indicate a continuous upward trend of tourism and visitor arrivals.


IPIM’s public services are temporarily relocated to The Caret from 22 April

Due to internal work arrangements, some of the public services by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) are temporarily relocated to in Room A, 3/F, The Caret, 29, Avenida do Governador Jaime Silvério Marques, Macau (Service Counter of the Residence Application and Legal Affairs Department of the IPIM) from 22 April.


Knockout stage set for ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2024 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group

The group stage of the ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2024 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), organized by the Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) and World Table Tennis Management Group Limited (WTMG), and co-organized by the Macau Table Tennis General Association, concluded today (17 April) at the Galaxy Arena. All knockout stage places were decided - 16 for the Men’s World Cup and 16 for the Women’s World Cup respectively.




'100 days to Paris' event held today in Macao

On the special occasion of 100-day countdown to the Paris Olympics, ITTF together with the Sports Bureau and Galaxy Entertainment Group held a ‘100 days to Paris’ event at the Outdoor Lawn of Galaxy Macau, during the ‘ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao 2024 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group’.


Extension of e-Channel service to eligible Portuguese passport and Singaporean passport holders

In alignment with the SAR Government’s “One Centre, One Platform, One Base” strategic positions, the Public Security Police Force continues to improve immigration control and promote clearance facilitation at various checkpoints in Macao, providing more convenient and efficient clearance services to the general public and visitors. With the support and co-operation of the relevant departments such as the Public Security Forces Affairs Bureau of Macau and the Identification Services Bureau, our Force has implemented a number of software and hardware upgrades to the e-Channels and also introduced new technologies such as the QR code for clearance and the use of iris instead of fingerprints for identity verification, effectively shortening the waiting time for clearance and enhancing clearance efficiency at various checkpoints in Macao.


34th Macao Arts Festival brings together Chinese and foreign cultures through a soul-stirring array of classics and innovative productions

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the 34th Macao Arts Festival, themed “Wondrous Encounters”, will be held from 3 May to 7 June, featuring a selection of Chinese and international programmes, including The Three Brothers presented by Portuguese art troupe that depicts the entanglements of family relationships; The Fury of My Thoughts brought by internationally renowned female director Marie Brassard from Canada; Macbettu, a reinterpretation of Shakespeare’s classic in the Sardinian language from Italy; and The Chairs, an adaptation of the Western classic using Kunqu Opera, a genre of traditional Chinese opera. Tickets are now on sale through the Macau Ticketing Network.
