[Promoting Internationalisation of MICE on “1+4” Industries] The “2024 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2024MIECF) is Launched at the End of March
The “2024 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2024MIECF) will be held from 28 to 30 March 2024 with significant upgrades in multiple areas. A host of professional international forums will be organised, and high-profile guests will be invited to share their insights on trendy environmental protection topics, including ESG (environmental, social and governance), green finance, carbon neutrality and green transformation. Meanwhile, the “Green Transformation Service Counter” will be set up for the first time to help enterprises stay on top of future ESG trends and thus make early deployment for upgrades and transformation. Environmental protection products and services across multiple sectors will be displayed. The “Green Smart Industries Exhibition Area” will also make its debut, accompanied by the “Green Matching Area”, the “Green Public Day” and exchange activities to advance green and sustainable development in line with the country’s “dual carbon” goals and the key environmental protection policies enacted by the Macao SAR Government, including the Long-term Decarbonisation Strategy of Macao.

“Macao.Hengqin Craft Market” to be held at the end of this month
The “Macao.Hengqin Craft Market”, jointly organised by the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) of the Macao SAR Government, will be held from 29 February to 3 March, at Ponto Legend Square in Hengqin. The event features over 100 stalls of cultural and creative products and gastronomy, as well as music performances by singers from Guangdong and Macao. All are welcome to participate.

【My Treats for You】Present 250,000 gifts in celebration of 25th anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR Attract international visitors and expand travel markets
As the international travel markets and air sector revive further in 2024, a year which also marks the 25th anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launches the scheme “My Treats for You” of special travel offers for international visitors (from beyond the Greater China region). 250,000 gifts are rolled out including special offers on air tickets, cross-border transportation, hotel accommodation, dining, entertainment and show tickets. Fueled by multichannel promotions, the scheme aims to draw greater flows of international visitors to Macao for the rich experiences of “tourism +”, as part of the endeavor to expand the diversity of travelers for a more robust tourism economy.

Macao hails addition of Xi’an and Qingdao to facilitated individual travel scheme
The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, today hailed the State Council’s endorsement of a step enabling eligible people from Xi’an City in Shaanxi Province, and Qingdao City, in Shandong Province, to travel to Hong Kong and Macao under the facilitated individual travel (FIT) scheme, with effect from 6 March 2024.

Visitor arrivals for January 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals soared by 104.7% year-on-year to 2,861,609 in January 2024, recovering to 83.5% of the level in the same month of 2019; however, the figure represented a drop of 2.8% month-on-month. Same-day visitors (1,480,098) and overnight visitors (1,381,511) leapt by 154.5% and 69.3% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.4 day year-on-year to 1.2 days, with that of overnight visitors (2.2 days) and same-day visitors (0.2 day) decreasing by 0.4 day and 0.1 day respectively.

Consumer price index (CPI) for January 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for January 2024 grew by 1.01% year-on-year. The increment was attributed to the increases in the charges for eating out and package tours, as well as rising tuition fees and higher prices of clothing and liquefied petroleum gas; however, the rise was partially moderated by lower airfares and reduced prices of pork and vegetables.
