In the 2023/2024 academic year, the University of Macau (UM) will launch six new master’s degree programmes, in the areas of artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous systems, coastal environment and safety, innovative materials, medicinal administration, and philosophy, respectively. Through these programmes, the university aims to nurture more high-quality professionals for Macao to support the development of emerging industries and assist Macao in its economic transformation.

The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) recently held the Fourth UM Language and Culture Day to promote language and cultural diversity. With the theme ‘Cherish Mother Tongues, Embrace All Cultures’, the event featured various cultural performances presented by academic staff and students from different countries and regions. More than 200 UM students, faculty members, and staff participated in the event.

IFTM will launch two brand-new postgraduate programmes, namely the Master of Science in Digital Marketing and Analytics and its corresponding Postgraduate Diploma in the academic year 2023/2024. The new programmes will be in effect after being published in MSAR Gazette. The programmes, using English as the teaching medium, will focus on the core area of marketing and high-end retail management in the context of digital transformation. Students will be nurtured to grasp the digital media communication and data analytical skills.

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Hubei Provincial Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) jointly organised the “Business Matching Sessions for Wine of Portuguese-speaking Countries (Wuhan Station)” yesterday (31 March). To commemorate the 30^th anniversary of the promulgation of the "Macao Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China", Macao Polytechnic University held the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Public Management Forum" for two consecutive days starting from March 31^st. More than 100 participants, including officials from the Macao SAR government, experts and scholars from the Mainland, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Macao, as well as teachers and students from higher education institutions and other members of the community, attended the event to promote academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of public management in the Greater Bay Area and to create a regional academic exchange platform.

The Financial Intelligence Office, as the coordinating agency of the Interdepartmental Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Working Group, held the first plenary meeting this year on 29 March 2023. The main agenda items discussed were the summary of the 3^rd round ML/TF/PF risk assessment of the Macao SAR and the outreach work plan for 2023. Another topic of discussion was the latest revisions of international AML/CFT standards and their impacts to Macao SAR. During the meeting, latest requirements for these revised standards were discussed, which include promoting transparency of beneficial ownership of legal persons and legal arrangements to prevent criminals from using complex corporate structures to conceal illegal activities and fund flows. The Working Group would consider the need to revise the relevant laws, regulations and guidelines according to the revision of the latest international standards on AML and CFT.
