Flora Park Children’s Playground to be open for use next Monday onwards

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has always cared about children’s developmental needs. To expand the play area for children to explore nature, IAM has redesigned and constructed Flora Park Children’s Playground. The playground will be open to the public on 27 March (Monday). To uphold the concepts of friendly campus and sharing of community facilities, the playground will be open to the public when it is not being used for the teaching activities of Jardim de Infância D. José da Costa Nunes. The opening hours are from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, kindergarten holidays and public holidays.


“Macao Health Code” system to be suspended from 27 March

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre indicates that the “Macao Health Code” system will cease operation from 27 March, as the requirement for people with Hong Kong travel/residence history to present a Macao Health Code when leaving Macao for Mainland China has been lifted since 14 March. Despite its discontinuation, the “Macao Health Code” system will remain accessible with the wording “System suspended” appear on its homepage, and provide the booking link of regular (self-paid) nucleic acid test and the link to the “COVID-19 Test Result Declaration and Query Platform” for user convenience (see Figure 1).


Employment survey for December 2022 – February 2023

The local employment situation continued to improve. Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the general unemployment rate (3.3%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (4.1%) for December 2022 - February 2023 decreased by 0.1 and 0.2 percentage points respectively from the previous period (November 2022 - January 2023). Besides, the underemployment rate dropped further by 0.5 percentage points to 2.7%.


Consumer price index (CPI) for February 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for February 2023 (104.20) grew by 0.77% year-on-year. The increment was attributed to higher charges for eating out and electricity, dearer wages of domestic helpers, increased tuition fees, as well as rising prices of gasoline; yet, the rise was partially offset by lower rentals for dwellings and receding airfares. Among the various sections of goods and services, price indices of Education and Household Furnishings & Services rose by 9.98% and 6.52% year-on-year respectively, whereas the indices of Housing & Fuels and Communication dropped by 1.70% and 1.57% respectively. The CPI-A (103.77) and CPI-B (104.77) saw respective growth of 0.55% and 1.05% year-on-year.


Happy Chinese New Year – National Art Troupes Performance Season in Macao Concert “Everlasting Joy of Heaven and Earth – Chinese Festivals” offers a feast of national music

Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, the concert “Everlasting Joy of Heaven and Earth – Chinese Festivals”, will be staged as part of the Happy Chinese New Year – National Art Troupes Performance Season in Macao on 15 April (Saturday), at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Jointly produced by the China National Traditional Orchestra and the Palace Museum, the concert introduces the Macao audience to the appeal of Chinese music by connecting them with important terms from the Chinese 24 solar terms. Tickets for the concert will be on sale from this Sunday (19 March) through the Macau Ticketing Network.




Players announced for WTT Champions Macao 2023 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group

WTT Champions Macao 2023 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, World Table Tennis (WTT) and Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), and co-organized by the Macau Table Tennis General Association, will be held at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion from 17 to 23 April 2023. The world’s elite players will line up to showcase their exceptional techniques to residents and tourists alike as they vie for the men’s and women’s singles title.
