CE visiting Fujian to promote cooperation

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, is visiting by invitation Ningde City, Fujian Province, from today until Sunday (14 January), aiming to promote cooperation.


IAM to hold briefings on “Registration System for Retail Establishments of Fresh and Live Food” and members of the industry are welcome to register for participation

Administrative Regulation “Registration System for Retail Establishments of Fresh and Live Food” will officially come into effect on 1 February 2024. In order to enhance the food industry’s understanding of the registration system, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will hold two briefings on the system on 19 and 22 January. Members of the relevant food industry are welcome to register for participation.


Tourist price index (TPI) for the 4th quarter of 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Tourist Price Index (TPI) for the fourth quarter of 2023 went up by 26.15% year-on-year to 150.47. The rise stemmed from higher hotel room rates, dearer prices of clothing and jewellery, as well as rising charges for restaurant services. Among the various sections of goods and services, price index of Accommodation surged by 178.67% year-on-year, and the indices of Clothing & Footwear, Miscellaneous Goods and Restaurant Services showed respective growth of 10.55%, 4.51% and 2.43%.


22nd Macao City Fringe Festival kicks off next week injecting artistic vitality throughout the city

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the 22nd Macao City Fringe Festival will be held from 17 to 28 January. The opening ceremony will be held on 17 January (Wednesday), at 4pm, at the Former Iec Long Firecracker Factory, injecting endless artistic vitality into the community and bringing creativity into every corner of the city. The participatory exhibition “Art Exhibition for All” will be inaugurated at 11am on the same day. Limited tickets are available for some of the Fringe Festival’s programmes and those interested are advised to purchase tickets as soon as possible.


MPU-Bell Centre of English now opens the 1st quarter of 2024 training courses for registration

To be in line withthe “1+4” moderate economic diversification strategy of Macao SAR Government, and to nurture talents of English language and English learning in the community, the MPU-Bell Centre of English launches English learning courses for the 1st quarter of 2024. The courses cover diversified areas, including IELTS international English test preparation, Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) training, Hotel and Tourism English, Business English, Creative English learning, General English and Professional English, English for Beginners, and Teacher Training series, etc., have been included in the DSEDJ Continuous Improvement and Development Programme. Interested parties are welcome to register.


2024 MGM Macao International Regatta commences today

The 2024 MGM Macao International Regatta, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, MGM and the Ursa Major Sailing Management, co-organized by theMarine and Water Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macau Sailing Association, and supported by the Zhuhai Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, officially commenced today until 14 January. 37 teams are competing for the title of three championships.





UM, CUC jointly organise short video contest for students from China’s higher education institutions

In order to stimulate the interest of university students in learning Portuguese and to develop their creative potential, the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Macau (UM) and the School of International Studies of the Communication University of China (CUC) jointly organised the Second Short Video Contest for Students from China’s Higher Education Institutions. The contest attracted the participation of many students from mainland China and Macao universities. Beijing Language and Culture University won the first prize, UM and CUC were both awarded second prizes, and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and two other universities received third prizes.
