Survey on information technology usage in the household sector for 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of households with Internet access totalled 195,100 in 2022, equivalent to 95.8% of the total households, up by 1.2 percentage points year-on-year, showing a further increase in prevalence of Internet use. Among the households with Internet access, 97.9% used mobile network while 91.2% used home broadband. Meanwhile, 72.4% (147,400) of the total households had computer equipment (e.g. tablet, laptop), the same proportion as in 2021.





UM develops drug-loaded macrophage robot for treatment of acute pneumonia

A research team led by Wang Ruibing, associate professor in the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS) at the University of Macau, has developed a supramolecularly engineered motorised cell platform as a nanomedicine carrier, based on the excellent inflammatory tropism of macrophages and the catalytic generation of oxygen as the propelling force. When loaded with anti-inflammatory curcumin, the platform showed a good therapeutic effect against acute pneumonia. The research results have been published in the top academic journal Advanced Materials.


Government response to U.S. report on human rights mentioning Macao

The Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government expresses its strong opposition to content relating to Macao carried in the “2022 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices”, lately issued by the Department of State of the United States.


Arrangements for the Adjustment of Basic TV Channels

In order to cope with the planning of spectrum resources for telecommunications in Macao SAR and the needs for the future development of high-definition television, Macau Basic Television Channels Limited will adjust some of the Basic TV Channels, starting from 11:00 am on March 27, 2023. Citizens who receive the signals of Basic TV Channels are required to re-scan the TV programs list on their TV’s in order to watch the TV programs normally, and the channel numbers of all TV programs will remain unchanged after adjustment. If citizens encounter difficulties or problems in receiving Basic TV Channels, they may contact their property management company or Macau Basic Television Channels Limited (Tel: 2835 6068).


Identification Services Bureau’s Director Chao Wai Ieng and Deputy Director Chan Un Lai swore in

Chao Wai Ieng and Chan Un Lai took an oath to assume the position of Director and Deputy Director of the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) today (20th March). The inauguration ceremony was hosted by the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Cheong Weng Chon and witnessed by the Chief of the Secretariat for Administration and Justice, Lam Chi Long.


Five Promotion Seminars in Three Days! Macao and Hengqin Jointly Invite Investment in Singapore to Expand Circle of Overseas Friends

From 14 to 17 March, the Macao-Hengqin Investment Promotion Delegation (“the delegation”) held five promotion seminars in Singapore, namely, a large investment promotion seminar, a high-tech industry promotion seminar, a big health industry promotion seminar, a key enterprises promotion conference and a Macao-Hengqin MICE promotion seminar, attracting representatives from over 140 Singapore enterprises. During their stay, the delegation visited some of the local key institutions and enterprises to attend investment promotion sessions. With the emphasis placed on the development directions of Macao-Hengqin key industries, the delegation sought co-operation after a more specific goal, and explored how to better leverage the opportunities arising from the Macao-Hengqin integrated development, so as to conduct international co-operation in industrial and innovation chains.
