Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – November 2022

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP207.2 billion (USD25.74 billion) at the end of November 2022. The reserves decreased by 1.1% from the revised value of MOP209.6 billion (USD25.92 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-November 2022 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 83.5% of pataca M2 at end-October 2022.


Four Christmas and New Year’s Eve Concerts to be held at Sai Van Lake Plaza with local and foreign musicians ringing in 2023 with songs

Christmas and New Year are fast approaching. Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) of the Macao SAR Government, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, MGM, Sands China Ltd., SJM Resorts, Limited, and Wynn Macau Ltd. and co-organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office, the Municipal Affairs Bureau, and TDM-Teledifusão de Macau, S.A., four Christmas and New Year’s Eve Concerts will be held at Sai Van Lake Plaza on the nights of 24, 25, and 31 December 2022 and 1 January 2023. Places are limited, with admission by ticket only. Online registration for the four concerts will open from 11 to 16 December and free tickets will be allocated by drawing lots.


The DSEDJ adjusts class suspension measures for schools of non-tertiary education in the second phase of the transition period

In response to the epidemic changes, the SAR Government has been gradually adjusting epidemic prevention policy in Macao, which will enter the second phase of the transition period from 14 December. In order to achieve a balance between the needs of epidemic prevention and implementation of normal educational activities in school, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (the DSEDJ) has issued guidelines on class suspension in the second phase of the transition period to schools of non-tertiary education in Macao. Starting from tomorrow (14 December), if there are cases tested positive in school, class suspension measure will be implemented on a class basis accordingly. When the number of new confirmed cases of students in the class reaches 4 or more in a day (school day), face-to-face teaching of that class will be suspended for 5 days from that day. If there are less than 4 new confirmed cases of students in the class in a day (school day), school will not be attended by students who are confirmed cases, and the rest of the students will have class as usual.


Second phase distribution of “Anti-epidemic Kits” from 14 to 18 December

In response to changes in the epidemic situation in Macao, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre distributes free “anti-epidemic kits” to members of the public in case of emergency. According to the actual needs of different age groups and the scope of application, there are 4 categories. In the first phase, priority distribution has been arranged for the vulnerable groups in Macao from 8 December onwards, of which distribution has been coordinated by the Social Welfare Bureau and the Education and Youth Development Bureau with relevant residential institutions and educational institutions, relevant targets do not need to collect the kits by themselves.


Number of community clinics for individuals infected with COVID-19 has been increased to eight and the clinics will be put into operation starting from tomorrow

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre (the Response and Coordination Centre) states that in response to the epidemic development, appropriate sites have been added or adjusted for community clinics for individuals infected with COVID-19 (community clinics) with ongoing efforts. To balance living needs and convenience for residents seeking medical consultation, eight community clinics will be put into operation starting from tomorrow (14 December):



Local hotels can receive guests infected with COVID-19 and close contacts from tomorrow (14 December)

As Macao will enter the second phase of the transition period tomorrow and put into effect the new measure that infected persons may undergo home isolation, local hotel establishments can receive guests infected with COVID-19 and close contacts from tomorrow (14 December) onwards.


Consumer Council awards 2022 “Best Certified Shops” To elevate quality of “Certified Shops”

The “Best Certified Shop” and “Excellent Certified Shop” Award Ceremony was held by the Consumer Council today (13th December), 20 “Certified Shops” are awarded as the best. The Award for the coming year 2023 will start accepting application from 13th December.
