Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for August 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts of the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments dropped by 6.3% year-on-year in August 2022, with Local Style Cafes, Congee & Noodle Shops and Western Restaurants recording respective decreases of 13.5% and 10.1%. Meanwhile, sales of the interviewed retailers rose by 8.4% year-on-year in August, with notable rise in the sales of Watches, Clocks & Jewellery Retailers (+50.5%) and Motor Vehicle Retailers (+47.4%); on the other hand, sales of Department Stores (-25.0%) showed a marked fall.


WTT Champions Macao 2022 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group kicks off tomorrow

WTT Champions Macao 2022 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and World Table Tennis (WTT) and co-organized by the Macau Table Tennis General Association, will be held at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion from 19 to 23 October 2022. The draw ceremony was held today and was attended by: Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau; Liu Guoliang, WTT Council Chair, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Deputy President and Chinese Table Tennis Association President; Steve Dainton, ITTF Group CEO and WTT Board Director; Philip Cheng, Director of Galaxy Entertainment Group; and players Ma Long and Sun Yingsha from China, Tomokazu Harimoto from Japan and Adriana Díaz from Puerto Rico.

Themed “All Rivers Flow to the Sea” the “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival” presents outstanding films from China and Portuguese-speaking countries

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) and supported by the Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), the “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival”, integrated in the 4th “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” will be held from 4 to 18 November. Themed “All Rivers Flow to the Sea”, this year’s Film Festival will present nearly 30 outstanding films from China and Portuguese-speaking countries. The opening film In Search of Lost Time will be screened on 4 November at the Galaxy Cinemas. Members of the public who participate in designated activities can redeem tickets for the opening film. Tickets for other film screenings will be available on sale from today.


MIF’s wide range of highlights align with adequate economic diversification

The “27th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair” (27th MIF), the “Macao Franchise Expo 2022” (2022MFE) and the “2022 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao)” (2022PLPEX) will be held concurrently at the same venue with a wide range of highlights.

The “27th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair” (27th MIF), the “Macao Franchise Expo 2022” (2022MFE) and the “2022 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao)” (2022PLPEX) will take place both online and offline concurrently from 20 to 22 October to generate the synergy of the three exhibitions.
