69th Macau Grand Prix – Family Carnival Online Registration Opens Monday
The Macau Grand Prix - Family Carnival will be held at Tap Seac Square from November 5 to 6. Entry will be via initial registration, followed by the drawing of lots to enter the venue at different times. Those interested in visiting can register online from 10:00am on October 24, to 6:00pm on October 29. Successful registrants will receive an SMS notification from November 1 to 2.

“hush! 2022 Concerts” brings diverse musical experience
Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-organized by the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the Marine and Water Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office, the “hush! 2022 Concerts” will be held from 22 October to 13 November. Macao is a coastal city which embraces different cultures from all over the world, imbuing its pop music with the characteristics of openness and diversity which create a unique cultural landscape of its own. This year’s concerts focus on the leisure atmosphere of the islands. Over 40 local bands, musicians and art groups will jointly present various music activities, creating an annual pop music feast in Macao.

UM and three well-known mainland universities jointly establish China Tourism Education Alliance
The inauguration ceremony for the China Tourism Education cum the Inaugural Frontiers in Hospitality and Tourism Annual Research Symposium was held today (21 October) at the University of Macau (UM). The alliance was jointly initiated and established by the University of Macau (UM), Fudan University, Nankai University, and Sun Yat-sen University. Combining both online and in-person elements, the symposium attracted over 250 participants, including scholars, researchers, top management team members, faculty members, and students from around the world in the field of hospitality and tourism management. The alliance aims to combine the teaching and research strengths of its members in the field of tourism management to nurture tourism professionals and promote exchange and cooperation in research in the field.

Consumer price index (CPI) for September 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for September 2022 (103.97) increased by 1.12% year-on-year. The increment was attributed to higher wages of domestic helpers and tuition fees, rising charges for eating out, as well as dearer prices of gasoline and fruits; yet, the rise was partially offset by lower rentals for dwellings, falling charges for telecommunication services and reduced prices of pork. Among the various sections of goods and services, price indices of Household Furnishings & Services and Education grew by 13.17% and 10.12% year-on-year respectively, whereas the index of Communication decreased by 10.07%. The CPI-A (103.58) and CPI-B (104.48) saw respective growth of 0.77% and 1.60% year-on-year.

Visitor arrivals for September 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals soared by 68.3% month-on-month to 557,842 in September 2022; however, the figure represented a drop of 11.3% year-on-year. Overnight visitors (280,270) and same-day visitors (277,572) decreased by 0.3% and 20.3% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.2 day year-on-year to 1.8 days, with that of overnight visitors (3.5 days) and same-day visitors (0.2 day) increasing by 0.2 day and 0.1 day respectively.
