Tickets for additional performances of the 32nd Macao Arts Festival on sale from this Saturday
The 32nd Macao Arts Festival (MAF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be held from 29 April to 2 June. Since the first day of ticket sales, tickets for a number of programmes have been highly sought after. Considering the public’s overwhelming response, additional performances will be offered for the local performances. Tickets for the additional performances will be on sale simultaneously through the Macau Ticketing Network outlets, telephone and online booking from 10am on 9 April (Saturday). An early bird discount of 30%, subject to certain criteria, are available until 10 April (Sunday) and the public should take this opportunity to buy tickets as soon as possible.

UM, CUHK jointly hold International Collegiate Programming Contest
The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of the University of Macau (UM) and the Faculty of Engineering of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) recently jointly held the 2021/2022 International Collegiate Programming Contest (Asia Macau Regional Contest). The event attracted nearly 500 faculty members and students from more than 100 well-known universities around the world, who joined the competition either online or in-person to compete with each other using their programming skills.

Children’s Show Cancellation The Very Hungry Caterpillar
The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) is cancelling the tour of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a string of shows produced by a Shanghainese company originally scheduled for 14 through 17 April at the Small Auditorium. The cancellation happens due to the epidemic prevention measures put in place in China. Refunds are available through 17 May at CCM’s Box Office and Macao Ticketing Network counters. In the meantime, CCM is actively engaged in settling a new date to stage this exciting performance.

Exhibition of paintings and calligraphy by Yang Shanshen opens at MAM, presenting works of the great master of the Lingnan School in his later years
Organized by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition “In the Breezes of Spring: Paintings and Calligraphy by Yang Shanshen Donated to the MAM Collection by Lei Loi Tak and Lao Ngai Leong” was inaugurated on 6th April, on the 4th floor of MAM. The opening ceremony was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Leong Wai Man; the Head of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Bai Bing; the Deputy of the Macao Special Administrative Region to the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China and the donor, Lao Ngai Leong; the President of the Macao Chamber of Commerce, Chui Sai Cheong; the President of the Yu Un Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macao, José Chui Sai Peng; the President of the Macau Artist Society, Lok Hei; the artistic advisor of the exhibition, Chan Hou Seng; the son of the donor Lei Loi Tak and the President of Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole Fan Club of the University of Hong Kong, Alberto Lei.

Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao continue to jointly launch Film Scriptwriting Advanced Programme Cultural Affairs Bureau will hold sharing session in late April
The “2022 Scripts in Focus — Film Scriptwriting Advanced Programme”, jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) of the Macao SAR Government, the Film Administration of Guangdong Province and Create Hong Kong, aims to cultivate more filmmaking talent and reserve a batch of excellent film scripts. IC will host a sharing session on 22 April (Friday), at 3pm, at the Multi-function Room of the Macao Grand Prix Museum, introducing the details of the programme. Interested individuals can register through IC’s “Activities Registration System” (www.icm.gov.mo/eform/event) from 10am on 7 April. Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

IAM formulates pandemic prevention plan for slaughterhouse to ensure stable supply of fresh pork
To stabilise the supply and price of fresh pork in Macao, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and the Macau Slaughter House Ltd. have jointly adopted a series of pandemic prevention measures at the slaughterhouse. In addition to requiring the staff of the slaughterhouse to get vaccinated against novel coronavirus, they are also required to undergo nucleic tests every 48 hours in compliance with the Macao Special Administrative Region Government’s requirement for nucleic acid testing for staff of the cold chain food industry, obtain green health code and measure their body temperature before work and continuously strengthen the cleaning and disinfection of the slaughterhouse. A pandemic prevention contingency plan has also been formulated, which will be immediately launched once a local confirmed case of novel coronavirus is discovered. The slaughterhouse staff are required to work in two groups on alternate shifts, so as to avoid the quarantine isolation of all staff owing to confirmed cases of certain staff and ensure the normal operation of the slaughterhouse.
