Update on tourist bus overturn accident in Yunnan

In following up on the tourist bus overturn accident involving the exchange delegation in Yunnan on 10 June, Yunnan Youth Friendship Association of Macau indicated that at the invitation of the organizer Yunnan Overseas Friendship Association, Yunnan Youth Friendship Association of Macau sent its members to join the activity in Yunnan. During the accident, around 10 Macao residents were on the bus. It was drizzling on the day and the driver was driving safely at a slow speed. The tour guide also reminded passengers to fasten their seatbelts. However, the rain caused the bus tires to skid on the road, leading to slow rollover of the bus.

A Macao resident was injured in the accident and immediately admitted to a hospital in the city of Shangri-la for medical treatment. Through the assistance of the local reception entity, the resident was then transferred to another hospital in Kunming yesterday (11 June). The resident is currently hospitalized under observation and is in stable condition. As a staffer of the delegation, the Chairman of Yunnan Youth Friendship Association of Macau has been accompanying the injured. The family also arrived yesterday to look after the injured. Another Macao resident who was slightly bruised was sent to the hospital in Shangri-la right after the accident and was discharged after the wound was treated.

Up to present, most of the participants have successively returned to Macao while a few participants stay in Yunnan and continue with their own itinerary.

MGTO is paying close attention to the incident and continues to maintain close contact with the pertinent organizing and reception entities to follow up on the situation.
