Households Not Receiving Notification Letter Asked to Call Census Hotline Great Prizes Await Lucky Respondents
The 2021 Population Census has entered the final stage of data collection. The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) appeals to the households who have not completed the Census questionnaire to respond to the Census by Saturday (21 Aug), and calls on the households who did not receive the notification letter to contact DSEC.

Tomorrow (19) marks the fourth Chinese Doctor’s Day, a festival observed in recognition of the contributions of generations of medical workers across China. According to the “Notice of the National Health Commission, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Logistic Support Department of the Central Military Commission on the Celebration Work for the Chinese Doctor’s Day 2021”, this year’s theme is “Building a shared dream on the centenary of the Chinese Communist Party, Implementing the original aspirations as Doctors”, commending medical workers for their sustained dedication to the lofty tradition of their predecessors, their perseverance in carrying out the original aspirations and mission amid waves of challenges, and their great contributions for national prosperity and rejuvenation, and the people's happiness.

Macao Grand Prix Museum reopens on 18 August “Stay, Dine and See Macao” local tours’ resumption until further notice
The Macao Grand Prix Museum and the Ritz Building including the Tourist Information counter and the exhibition hall, under the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), will be reopened to the public starting from 18 August. Macao Polytechnic Institute Holds Online Opening Ceremony to Welcome 1,300 New Students
The Macao Polytechnic Institute held the opening ceremony for the academic year 2021/2022 at 3 pm on August 17 and welcomed more than 1,300 local and overseas new students from Macao, the Greater Bay Area, Portuguese-speaking countries enrolled in undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degree programs. As a responsive measure following guidelines of the pandemic, the opening ceremony was held online. MPI president Professor Im Sio Kei delivered the very first lesson to all freshmen students, calling upon them to uphold the core values of patriotism and love for Macao. Students were encouraged to practice patriotism and shoulder responsibilities and commitments; to work hard at their studies to broaden their horizons and to equip themselves with adequate knowledge to make contributions to the development of the country and Macao. MPI faculty staff and students gathered online to witness new students taking the oath "MPI’s heart, our new start" to join the big MPI family, which formally kicked off their new journey in life.

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 2,731 building units and parking spaces were purchased and sold in the second quarter of 2021 as per Stamp Duty record, and the total value of transactions was MOP15.99 billion, up by 37.4% and 52.0% respectively quarter-to-quarter.

Maritime Museum reopens on Wednesday
With the improvement in the COVID-19 situation in Macao, the Maritime Museum will reopen starting from 18 August 2021. Once the Museum reopens, visitors are advised to cope with the implementation of restriction on visitor flow and the museum will strengthen the cleaning and disinfection work. Visitors entering the Museum are required to wear face masks, receive temperature checks and present their personal health declarations for the day.

The cultural facilities under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will open in an orderly manner from 18 August (Wednesday). According to the guidelines on conducting visits abroad and crowd gathering activities issued by the Health Bureau on 10 August 2021, the reopened cultural facilities will not hold activities that may lead to crowd gathering. IC will implement crowd control measures according to the spatial characteristics of different venues, temporarily not providing guided tours, and suspending offerings such as interactive experience devices. Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Luís de Camões Garden will remain closed, while the Guia Fortress, the Guia Chapel and Lighthouse which are currently undergoing maintenance works and will also remain closed.
