Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – July 2021
The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP209.9 billion (USD26.22 billion) at the end of July 2021. The reserves increased by 0.1% from the revised value of MOP209.8 billion (USD26.23 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-July 2021 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 86.2% of pataca M2 at end-June 2021.

Members of the public notified the Judiciary Police in relation to an unknown telephone call allegedly from the Health Bureau, with pre-recorded messages in both Cantonese and Putonghua, claiming that the caller has not yet collected important documents from the Bureau.

Multi-channel Promotions for Online Census Completion Questionnaire Collection Points Set Up to Facilitate Data Submission
The 15-day data collection for the 2021 Population Census has entered its sixth day today (12 Aug). In line with the pandemic prevention and control measures of the SAR Government, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) has spared no efforts to promote online Census response. Until now, over 57,000 households have completed the online questionnaire, which accounted for 27.5% of the total. Starting tomorrow (13 Aug), DSEC will set up 12 questionnaire collection points to facilitate submission of paper questionnaires, and send SMS reminders to all residents in Macao to encourage Census completion.

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre (hereinafter referred to as “the Centre”) indicates that, in view of the severity of the global epidemic situation, Macao cannot afford to drop its guard, and vaccination against COVID-19 is an important means to combat the epidemic effectively. For this, to facilitate vaccination among members of the public, the 18 vaccination points across the territory now offer more than 10,000 inoculation quotas daily, with adequate quotas for on-site registration. IFTM students demonstrate newfound focus on potential within the cultural & creative industries
In the last two years alone, a number of IFTM students have focused their final year capstone research project on investigating different aspects of the cultural and creative industries. Many of which have been presented in the annual Tourism Education Student Summit event (TEd Summit) and subsequently published within the respective e-Proceedings (ISSN 2518-4784, 2020 & 2021). The studies they conducted ranged in scope from entertainment such as film and pop culture to art as a decorative aesthetic.
