DSEC launches “My Statistics” Service
To facilitate ease of access to official statistics, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) revamped the previous “Personalised Webpage” and launched a new service “My Statistics” today (31 Dec), which enables users to save statistical indicators, tables and publications of their interest on the DSEC website, and obtain the latest statistics on their next login.

External Merchandise Trade Statistics for November 2021
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total merchandise export amounted to MOP1.19 billion in November 2021, up by 24.2% year-on-year. Value of re-exports (MOP996 million) grew by 23.3%, with that of Articles for casino and Beauty, cosmetic & skincare products jumping by 3,234.1% and 140.8% respectively. Value of domestic exports (MOP189 million) increased by 28.9%, with that of Pharmaceutical products & organic chemicals and Garments rising by 98.5% and 26.6% respectively. Meanwhile, total merchandise import went up by 18.2% year-on-year to MOP15.62 billion; imports of Electronic components, Mobile phones and Handbags & wallets surged by 89.0%, 73.6% and 53.0% respectively, whereas imports of Motor cars & motorcycles and Beauty, cosmetic & skincare products declined by 31.4% and 11.7% respectively. Merchandise trade deficit in November 2021 totalled MOP14.44 billion.

Starts to Accept the Proof of Life from New Year’s Day, FSS Calls for More Use of Electronic Means
The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) said that residents may continue to use the facial recognition technology of "My Government Account of Macao SAR" mobile application to provide the proof of life in 2022, without the need to visit the FSS or the related service points. This applies even if residents are outside Macao. According to the law, beneficiaries of FSS’s old-age and disability pension must provide the proof of life every year, and about 140,000 people are involved for the year 2022.

Preliminary results of 2021 Population Census
Preliminary results of the 2021 Population Census released by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the total population of Macao was 682,100 in August 2021, an increase of 23.5% compared to 2011; the average annual growth was 2.1% over the past decade. Total number of households rose by 18.7% from ten years ago to 202,700, and the average household size was 2.98 persons.

Employment survey for September-November 2021
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (2.8%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (3.8%) for September-November 2021 held steady from the previous period (August-October 2021). Meanwhile, the underemployment rate dropped by 0.2 percentage points to 4.3%.

Cultural Affairs Bureau announces the list of selected candidates of the “9th Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making”
The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) has recently completed the review process of the “9th Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making”. Eight candidates have been selected and they are (in arbitrary order): Siu David, Wong Man I, Lei Wai Cheng, Tang Si Weng, Lai Ka Pou, Kan Ka Kei, Leng Carmen and Vong Si Weng. The IC will provide each of the selected candidates with a grant of up to MOP170,000 for the production and promotion of the respective fashion design samples.

Transport and communications statistics for November 2021
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 247,049 as at end-November 2021, up by 1.5% year-on-year. Light automobiles (112,985) and heavy motorcycles (105,606) increased by 1.8% and 3.1% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, new registration of motor vehicles in November decreased by 9.4% year-on-year to 1,171, with that of heavy motorcycles (652) and light automobiles (497) dropping by 5.9% and 8.8% respectively. In the first eleven months of 2021, new registration of motor vehicles went up by 1.7% year-on-year to 11,368. Number of traffic accidents in November rose by 6.1% year-on-year to 1,074, with 354 persons injured. From January to November 2021, traffic accidents grew by 27.5% year-on-year to 11,700, which resulted in 3 deaths and 4,036 injuries.
