Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the population of Macao was estimated at 560,100 as at 30 September 2011, an increase of 2,000 from end-June. There were 1,473 live births in the third quarter of 2011, up by 8.9% quarter-to-quarter. Gender ratio of the newborn was 107.2, with 762 male babies. Number of mortality cases totalled 471, up by 15.7% quarter-to-quarter; major underlying causes of death were Neoplasms and Diseases of the Circulatory System. A total of 1,011 cases of Notifiable diseases were reported in this quarter, consisting mainly of Enterovirus Infection (369 cases), Influenza (236 cases) and Tuberculosis of lung (86 cases). In addition, 847 cases of marriage registration were recorded, up by 8.7% over the second quarter of 2011. In the third quarter of 2011, there were 1,719 Chinese immigrants with One-way Exit Permit moving to Macao, an increase of 185 quarter-to-quarter; meanwhile, 382 illegal immigrants were repatriated. Moreover, a total of 851 individuals were authorized to reside in Macao, up by 230 quarter-to-quarter. Total number of non-resident workers stood at 89,896 at the end of the third quarter, up by 4,623 quarter-to-quarter.
