Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – April 2019
The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP164.7 billion (USD20.39 billion) at the end of April 2019. The reserves increased by 0.9% from the revised value of MOP163.3 billion (USD20.19 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-April 2019 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 80.5% of pataca M2 at end-March 2019.

Macao Helps Traditional Chinese Medicine Enterprises to Access European and African Markets at the Business Matching Forum of the 2019 Traditional Medicine International Development Forum (2019 TMIF Euro-Africa)
On the occasion of the “2019 Traditional Medicine International Development Forum (Euro-Africa)”, a Business Matching session was held in Lisbon, Portugal in that afternoon. Present at the event were representatives from government departments, experts in traditional medicine, representatives from business and trade sectors, and distributors, totalling 120 participants, coming from Macao, Mainland China, the European Union, and African countries. At the event, the discussions were focused on the current situation, market features, cases of international trade and registration, and relevant regulations of Traditional Medicine, food supplements, and health products in European and African countries and regions.

‘AMIGO – Exchange Segment among International Youth TCM Practitioners’ to Advance the Joint Development of TCM Talents Worldwide
The ‘AMIGO – Interactive Segment among International Youth TCM Practitioners’ was held in Lisbon, Portugalon May 15 during the ‘2019 Traditional Medicine International Development Forum’ (‘2019 TMIF Euro-Africa’). About 100 young TCM practitioners, as well as representatives from government departments, industry experts and representatives from universities, were brought together from countries and regions such as Macao, Mainland China, Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany, Mozambique, and Cape Verde to share ideas on the application of TCM in China and Portuguese-speaking countries and regions and to interact with international experts, thus advancing the international development of talents and the Traditional Medicine industry in a deeper and broader scope.

To Build a Platform for International Exchanges in Traditional Medicine and Explore the Integrated Development of Youth TCM Practitioners 2019 Traditional Medicine International Development Forum (Euro-Africa) Opened in Lisbon, Portugal on 15 May 2019
Hosted by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China, and coordinated by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao (‘Industrial Park’), the ‘2019 Traditional Medicine International Development Forum (Euro-Africa)’ held its grand opening in Lisbon, Portugal on 15 May 2019. During the event, the Industrial Park signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health and Social Security of the Republic of Cape Verde to expand and deepen the cooperation between the two sides in the field of Traditional Medicine.

Anti-corruption authorities of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao discuss integrity building in Greater Bay Area
The Commission Against Corruption of Macao (CCAC), the Guangdong Provincial Commission of Supervision and the Independent Commission Against Corruption of Hong Kong (ICAC) had a joint meeting in Guangzhou today (15th May), where the three parties had a discussion on cooperation in integrity building in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Commissioner Against Corruption, Cheong Weng Chon, the Director of the Guangdong Provincial Commission of Supervision, Shi Kehui and the Commissioner of the ICAC, Peh Yun-lu attended the meeting.
