Consumer Council released 1st supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the first-half of July on 4 July for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 14 supermarkets in Nossa Senhora de Fátima Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.


Limiting rumour during public emergencies common community practice internationally

The Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, today said that punishing – or taking steps to limit – the spread of rumour during a public emergency, was a common practice in communities internationally.


MGTO joins Macau Deaf Association’s promotional activity to steer the society towards accessibility

In continuous active support of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government’s scheme to optimize the accessibility of the urban environment in Macao, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) participated in “Empathy‧Silent Journey”, a promotional activity organized by Macau Deaf Association on 4 July, to gain a deeper understanding of the rights and needs of the deaf and auditorily-impaired, and learn about methods and skills of communication with them through engaging in the interactive experience provided.


“Art Macao” large-scale outdoor installations and exhibitions become photography hot spots

“Art Macao”, a six-month mega arts festival, presents a total of 41 events held at 48 locations, offering a new cultural tourism experience that breaks through the concept of space. A number of large-scale outdoor art installations by local and foreign artists, exhibitions organized by foreign consulates accredited in Hong Kong and Macao and hotels and integrated resorts, turns local landmarks into photography hotspots, bringing an artistic summer.



Monetary and financial statistics – May 2019

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply continued to grow in May with a stable share of patacas. Meanwhile, resident deposits rose from a month ago whereas loans to residents posted a decline.


Government and gaming operators review preparedness for typhoons

The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau and the city’s six gaming operators recently held a drill in order to optimise ways of preparing and responding to emergencies that might arise during this summer’s typhoon season.


Macao International Book Fair 2019 A grand gathering of literature and gastronomy

The Macao International Book Fair 2019, featured in the 2nd Encounter in Macao—Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, and jointly organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao S.A.R. Government and the China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Corporation, will be held from 4 to 7 July, at the Exhibition Hall A of The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel. The book fair attracts the participation of over 60 publishers from more than 20 countries and regions, with a total volume of more than 10,000 books exhibited. Admission is free and the public is welcome.


UM mourns passing of Prof António Hespanha

Prof António Manuel Botelho Hespanha, who was the coordinator of the area of Legal-Historical and Philosophical Sciences in the Faculty of Law of the University of Macau (UM), passed away on 1 July.
