Lai Chi Vun Shipyards – Plots X11-X15 opens this Saturday creating a space for cultural and recreational activities in islands

In order to promote the revitalization of the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards and create a space for cultural and recreational activities dedicated to the theme of Macao's shipbuilding industry, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) has initiated a phased revitalization and restoration plan for the Shipyards since 2021. The opening ceremony of the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards – Plots X11-X15 will be held at 6:30pm on 24 June (Saturday). These land plots will feature a thematic exhibition, a featured market and Buskers’ live performances as well as workshops, in a bid to showcase the history and culture of the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards, create a cultural landmark with island characteristics, promote community and cultural tourism development, and enrich the cultural experience.


Invitation races of 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races to be held tomorrow

Organised by the Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts, S.A. and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, and co-organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, the invitation races of the 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races will be held tomorrow (22 June) at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre. The Organizing Committee convened the draw and technical meeting for races today (21 June) at the office of the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China.

UM Confucius Institute holds graduation ceremony for Mandarin course students

The University of Macau (UM) Confucius Institute held a graduation ceremony for students in its Mandarin courses in the second semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. During the event, which was held at UM’s Student Activity Centre, over 100 students received their graduation certificates. According to the students, the Mandarin courses have enhanced their language skills and deepened their passion for Chinese culture.



hush! 2023 Concerts Open call for proposals for local bands, musicians and curators of art installations

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the “hush! 2023 Concerts” will be held from late October to early November in Macao Peninsula, Hac Sa Beach and various locations in Coloane, presenting a number of concerts and thematic performances, as well as intriguing activities including hush! bazaars, workshops, art installations and network connections. In order to promote musical and cultural events in Macao, IC is now calling for the participation of local bands, musicians and curators of art installation. Interested parties are welcome to apply from 26 June to 14 July.


Grand Opening of the Postgraduate Space at IFTM

Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Postgraduate Space on June 19, 2023. This dedicated area in the East Asia Hall Annex Building is designed to provide a quality environment for postgraduate students to work on their academic research and thesis.


Inauguration of the series of activities of “Genesis and Spirit – Showcase of Hainan Intangible Cultural Heritage” to be held at Mount Fortress Garden next Friday night

In order to celebrate the 2023 “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day”, to promote exchanges and cooperation between Mainland China and Macao in the field of intangible cultural heritage, and to enable Macao residents to better experience the rich cultural essence of China, the “Genesis and Spirit – Showcase of Hainan Intangible Cultural Heritage” will be held from 30 June to 8 October. The event is presented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province, co-organised by the Hainan Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Centre, and supported by Galaxy Entertainment Group. The opening ceremony will be held at 6:30pm on 30 June (Friday) at Mount Fortress Garden, followed by a series of performances with Hainan characteristics at 7pm in the same place, including traditional music, dance, theatre, opera, as well as a special fashion show of the Li ethnic group, themed “When Fabric Meets Light: The Brocade Show”, which creates an immersive experience for the public to appreciate Hainan’s folk customs and traditional arts. On the occasion, the Mount Fortress Garden will be open until 8pm. All are welcome to participate.
