Local musical hits the stage New homegrown production at CCM
The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents The Walk-in Family, the latest in a string of productions commissioned and conceived to support the local performing arts scene. The new musical will premiere at CCM’s Small Auditorium in two shows scheduled for 23 and 24 September (Friday and Saturday).

Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – July 2022
The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP210.0 billion (USD25.98 billion) at the end of July 2022. The reserves decreased by 1.9% from the revised value of MOP214.0 billion (USD26.48 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-July 2022 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 83.9% of pataca M2 at end-June 2022.

Guia Hill Cable Car to resume operation tomorrow after completion of replacement and testing of main cables
The Guia Hill Cable Car operation, which has been suspended because the main cables have been worn out, will resume operation from tomorrow (16 August) onwards as the replacement works of the main cables and a series of works such as connection of cables, inspections, adjustments and trials to ensure the safe operation of the cable car have been completed. The opening hours of the cable car are: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily (closed on Monday or the following day if a public holiday, day of exemption from work or compensatory rest day falls on Monday).

Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for June 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 121 hotel establishments offered accommodation services to the public in June 2022, an increase of 6 year-on-year; number of available guest rooms rose by 5.5% to 37,000. Data on hotel establishments designated for medical observation and self-health monitoring were excluded in the compilation of the results. The average occupancy rate of guest rooms in June dropped by 6.3 percentage points year-on-year to 39.1%; the rate for 5-star hotels was 31.9%, a decrease of 12.2 percentage points year-on-year.

Some venues under the DSEDJ will resume service to the public from August 15

The Education and Youth Development Bureau announces that starting from August 15 (Monday), the following venues will resume service to the public, including the leisure reading area at Parenting Education Centre (Lago), Vocational Technical Education Activity Centre and Cheoc Van Youth Hostel (day camps). Whereas, the stadium at Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional, Youth Activities Centre of Areia Preta and Hac-Sa Youth Hostel will remain closed for the time being.

International banking statistics – June 2022
According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the proportion of international business in the local banking sector retreated in the second quarter of 2022. At end-June 2022, the share of international assets in total banking assets decreased to 85.5% from 86.0% at end-March 2022, while the share of international liabilities in total banking liabilities fell to 83.3% from 83.6%.
