UM rector elected vice president of China Association of Higher Education

Yonghua Song, rector of the University of Macau (UM), was elected vice president of the China Association of Higher Education at the eighth meeting of the general assembly of the association held on 24 July in Beijing. During the meeting, Zhong Denghua, vice minister of education of China, gave a speech, and Du Yubo, president of the seventh council of the association, delivered a work report. The eighth council of the association was also elected at the meeting.


Supplies delivery service for two Red Code Zones suspended today to facilitate nucleic acid test for households

To facilitate the Health Bureau’s arrangement for households to undergo nucleic acid sampling and the delivery of supplies, the Subsistence Team suspends the service of delivering supplies from relatives and friends for the households in Merry Court and Edf. Kat Cheong originally scheduled for 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm today (July 25). Relevant households are advised to ask their relatives and friends not to send supplies to the sites today.


Macao Government Services Centres resume limited public services today and are in good order on site

The Macao Government Services Centre in Areia Preta and the Macao Government Services Centre in Islands resume operation today (July 25), offering limited public services. There is the “designated access for individuals with yellow health codes” on site and the members of the public lining up in queues maintain a 1-metre distance from each other on their own initiative. The on-site staff also assist the public in need in booking and printing health codes. The venues are generally in good order.


254,697 samples collected within the last 24 hours among persons in key areas, key groups and those leaving home for work; 239,283 of collected samples have been tested and returned as negative

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announces that with regard to the NAT drive for persons in key areas, key groups, and those who need to leave home for work, a total of 254,697 samples have been collected within the last 24 hours (24 July); among them, 239,283 samples have been analysed, and their results are negative.

The new positive cases reported in Macao within 24 hours yesterday (24 July) include: 4 cases in the Red Code zones and medical observation hotels, which were detected under management and control; 0 case of close contacts, 0 case in the Citywide NAT and Key Groups NAT, and 0 case among other population groups.


Additional NAT station to be set up at Iao Hon Market Park from tomorrow (25 July)

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announces that, in response to the need for nucleic acid testing in people in key areas, key groups and those leaving home for work, an additional NAT station will be set up at Iao Hon Market Park to provide convenient sampling service for residents nearby.


Defective RAT kits can be replaced at the corresponding health centre or health station

Noting that recently there have been complaints about receipt of defective rapid antigen test (RAT) kits, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre responds that starting tomorrow (25 July), citizens who had been distributed with a defective RAT kit can bring it to their corresponding health centre or health station for replacement during service hours.
