April is a Contribution Month, Three Banks Newly Added to Collect FSS’s Payments, FSS Calls for Early Payments
April is a contribution month of the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao). In this month, employers are required to pay obligatory system contributions for their local long-term employees for the first quarter of 2022. If a non-resident worker is hired, the employer is required to pay the employment fee as well. In addition, arbitrary system beneficiaries may also pay their contributions in April. Since April, the FSS has newly added three cooperative banks, calling on employers and arbitrary system beneficiaries to make their payments through electronic payment channels as much as possible.

Teachers and students who live in Zhuhai Nanping can resume face-to-face classes from April 1

Zhuhai lifted its sealed, controlled and prevention areas of Zhuhai Nanping on 31st March, 2022 at 6 a.m., and after hearing opinions from the health department, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) announces that students and teaching staff of local tertiary and non-tertiary education institutions who live in the above areas may, after conducting nucleic acid testing today (March 31) and achieving negative results, resume face-to-face classes since April 1 (Friday).

The MSAR Government schedules to launch the “Wealth Partaking Scheme 2022” in 1st of April till 13th of May through either mailing cheque or bank transfer, for which 697,000 local permanent residents and 42,000 non-permanent residents are entitled to receive 10,000 patacas and 6,000 patacas respectively.

Goods directly imported to Macao by air, as well as baggage of passengers on flights, undergo multiple strict disinfection steps upon arrival at Macau International Airport, in line with the COVID-19 risk level at their place of origin. UM students win first prize at ‘Challenge Cup’ national competition for technological projects
Students from the University of Macau (UM) recently won six prizes in the ‘Challenge Cup’ national inter-varsity competition for extracurricular academic technological projects. The prizes include one first prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes, and the first prize was awarded to a team formed by UM students from the Faculty of Science and Technology for their project of intelligent inspection and maintenance robots for corridor tunnels based on low-light enhancement algorithms. UM is once again the only university from Macao to have won a first prize in this competition.

Tickets for 32nd Macao Arts Festival on sale from Sunday Online reservation system for first day of ticket sales available on Thursday
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 32nd Macao Arts Festival (MAF) will be held from 29 April to 2 June. Tickets will be on sale through the Macau Ticketing Network from 10am on 3 April. Ticketing services at the outlets, telephone and online booking will be available simultaneously. In order to cooperate with the epidemic prevention and control measures, to reduce crowd gathering at the ticketing outlets and to safeguard public health, members of the public are advised to purchase tickets online or by telephone. An online reservation system has also been set up for the first day of ticket sales. Members of the public who want to purchase tickets at the Macau Ticketing Network outlets from 10am to 1pm on the first day of ticket sales are required to reserve their ticketing slot and their desired outlet through the online reservation system from 10am on 31 March (Thursday).

Macao Polytechnic University Holds Seminar on Gambling Disorder Prevention and Treatment
In order to help students to understand gambling disorders, the Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies of Macao Polytechnic University invited two specialists from the Problem Gambling Prevention and Treatment Division of the Macao Social Welfare Bureau to give a lecture on "Macao Gambling Disorder Prevention and Treatment Services" to its students. Teachers and students of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Gaming and Recreation Management and the Bachelor of Social Work attended the lecture and the atmosphere was warm.

Macao Polytechnic University held an internship recruitment talk
In order to develop interactions between students and the gaming industry and explore students’ career and internship opportunities, Macao Polytechnic University held an internship recruitment talk by gaming companies and invited Mr. Kennith Lei, Senior Officer of Talent Management & Leadership Development of the Human Resources & Administration Department of the Galaxy Entertainment Group to explain the Galaxy Integrated Resort internship program for the second half year of 2022 to the students of the Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies. Students from the Bachelor of Business Admission in Gaming and Recreation Management program attended the talk and learned a lot.

Transport and communications statistics for February 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 247,923 as at end-February 2022, up by 1.5% year-on-year; light automobiles (113,260) and heavy motorcycles (106,384) increased by 1.5% and 3.1% respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in February dropped by 21.4% year-on-year to 721 (electric vehicles accounted for 116), with that of light automobiles declining by 31.5% to 298 (electric vehicles accounted for 90). In the first two months of 2022, new registration of motor vehicles decreased by 10.1% year-on-year to 1,973. Number of traffic accidents in February went down by 10.4% year-on-year to 823, with 287 persons injured. In the first two months of 2022, there were 1,922 traffic accidents, which caused 650 injuries.
