UM releases macroeconomic forecast for Macao 2025

The Centre for Macau Studies and the Department of Economics of the University of Macau (UM) have released the macroeconomic forecast for Macao 2025. The global economic outlook faces downward risks due to the significant slowdown in China’s economic growth and the uncertainties brought about by various countries’ economic policies. The research team predicts that Macao’s baseline GDP growth in 2025 will be 7.7%, while the baseline forecasts for other major economic variables are: exports of services will grow by 7.6%; private consumption expenditure will increase by 3.1%; the inflation rate will be 1.1%; the overall unemployment rate will be 1.8%; the unemployment rate of Macao residents will be 2.3%; and the Macao SAR Government’s current revenue will be MOP 111.8 billion.


Macao Orchestra’s “Concert of Love in Seoul” unveiling the romantic melodies by “The Goddess of Flute” Jasmine Choi

Presented by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Macao Orchestra Company, Limited and Sands China Ltd., the “Concert of Love in Seoul” will be held on 15 February 2025 (Saturday), at 8pm, at The Venetian Theatre. The concert features three renowned musicians from South Korea, namely flutist Jasmine Choi, soprano Lee Myung-Joo, and conductor Sunwook Kim, the Music Director of Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, in collaboration with the Macao Orchestra, presenting a romantic night of music. The concert is part of the Sands China Performing Arts Programme, and tickets are now on sale at the Macau Ticketing Network and Cotai Ticketing.


MPU Receives IELTS Testing Point Premier Member Award

To contribute to the development of Macao as a base for international examinations and language training, the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) has been expanding its international and national examination and certification services over the years. The MPU-Bell Centre of English is the first centre in Macao to be a testing point partner of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and has been committed to providing candidates with a professional examination environment since then. It has been awarded the IELTS Testing Point Premium Member Award for this year, making it the only institution in Macao to receive this honour.


MPU Publishes Vol. 52 of Journal of One Country Two Systems Studies

The new issue of the Journal of One Country Two Systems Studies (Vol. 52) edited by the “One Country Two Systems” Research Centre of MPU has just been published. There are 11 articles in this issue. The Journal of One Country Two Systems Studies aims at giving the public an insight into the “One Country, Two Systems” policy and establishing an academic platform for the study of “One Country, Two Systems”. Local and overseas scholars are welcome to contribute to the journal so as to enhance academic cooperation and exchanges.


2025 MGM Macao International Regatta kicks off today

The 2025 MGM Macao International Regatta, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, MGM, and Ursa Major Sailing Event Management, co-organized by the Marine and Water Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macau Sailing Association, supported by the Zhuhai Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, and partnered with the World Match Racing Tour (WMRT), commenced today (January 8) until January 12.

CE to visit Guangzhou for Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Joint Conference
