Application for Macao SAR Resident Identity Card ( BIR )

How to Apply

Application at counter (applicants are required to obtain a number tag in advance. For the methods to obtain the tag number, please refer to “Methods to Obtain Tag Number and Appointment” of the website of the Identification Services Bureau(DSI).

  • Applicable to Macao SAR Resident Identity Card (BIR) holders;
  • Applicants who are not holding the electronic Macao SAR Resident Identity Card can submit one 1.5” colour photo if necessary;
  • If applicant is under the age of 18, the application must be lodged by the parent or guardian at service counter in person.

Application via self-service kiosks (Number tag is not required):

Applicant Eligibilities:
– Possessing a Macao SAR Permanent Resident Card or a Macao SAR Non-permanent Resident Identity Card;
– Aged 18 or above;

Please note that:
This service is not applicable to persons who need to apply for the certificate of having no children in Macao, the certificate of document authentication or the certificate for proving other identification documents which had ever been held or submitted by the applicants. Besides, the self-service kiosks are not applicable to applicants under the following conditions. They are required to obtain a number tag and lodge their applicants at traditional service counters.

  1. The Macao SAR Resident Identity Card expired;
  2. The Macao Resident Identity Card is being renewed;
  3. Persons who are modifying personal data (such as data on the identity card face, marital status, parents’ names etc);
  4. An interdicted or quasi-interdicted person.

Remarks/ Notes for Application

  • Application can be made by an authorized person by presenting the original and photocopy of applicant’s identity card if applicant cannot apply in person.
  • Applicant should sign the application form as on the applicant’s identity card. (Forms Download- Requerimento do certificado).
  • For applicants who are holding the electronic Macao SAR Resident Identity Card, DSI will print the facial image of the applicant on the Certificate of Personal Data. Applicants do not need to submit a photograph for the application (Download – Sample of the Certificate). For applicants who are not holding the electronic Macao SAR Resident Identity Card, DSI will attach the photograph on the Certificate of Personal Data upon the request of the applicant.
  • The Electronic Certificate has an equivalent legal effect as the Printed Certificate.

Fees and Payment Methods

Fees:

MOP15.00 for the first page, and MOP5.00 for each additional page.

Payment Methods:

Headquarter (China Plaza), Macao Government Services Centre and Macao Government Services Centre in Islands: Cash, credit card, Union Pay “QuickPass”, debit card, Macau Pass and MPay are accepted for payment.

Processing Time

5 working days (Performance Pledge)
(The processing time is counted from the following day after this bureau receives the application and all required documents.)

Eligible applicants who lodge the application through self-service kiosks or the “Common Access to Public Services of the Macao SAR” can collect their certificate according to the following schedule:

  • Collection location: The Identification Services Bureau on the 1st floor of the China Plaza

Collection Methods of service results:

  1. In person
  2. By authorized person
  • The applicant can endorse the application receipt and sign according to the valid identification document in order to authorize a representative to collect the document on behalf of the applicant (if applicant is under the age of 18, his/her legal representative is the one to endorse the application receipt).
  • The authorized representative should present his/her original valid identification document and the photocopy of applicant’s identification document for verification.
