During the meeting, the development and influence of Macao's cultural, film and television programmes was under discussion. It was agreed to enhance future communications and collaborations in the areas of culture and the arts, and to jointly create and promote culture, television and film in Macao, with the principle aim of comprehensively disseminating the cultural characteristics of Macao via the electronic media. Leong Kam Chun remarked that Macao embraces a wide range of cultural diversity. In this regard, TDM can play a supporting role in assisting the promotion and development of local culture and the arts through its extensive network coverage. In addition, it can help enhance residents' cultural and arts competence and overall standard, while consolidating their understanding and sense of cultural belonging. In response, Ung Vai Meng said that TDM has numerous TV channels, which are capable of reaching a wide audience. The Cultural Affairs Bureau hosts a variety of cultural and artistic events every year, including the Macao Arts Festival, Macao International Music Festival, and other activities pertaining to Macao's World Heritage, cultural relics and cultural festivals. These events attract an enormous number of residents and tourists alike. Ung further noted that both the Cultural Affairs Bureau and TDM can strengthen co-operation, share resources and jointly produce cultural and arts programmes highlighting local characteristics, and also extend co-operation in the areas of film, documentaries and promotional clips. Both the Cultural Affairs Bureau and TDM believe that there is great potential for co-operation. They have pledged to work together, and to integrate their resources in order to create a favourable environment for culture, television and film. In turn, this collaboration will positively contribute to the proposed long-term development and success of the project.
